  • Painting Wargaming Figures

Javier Gomez, a highly talented figure painter of long experience and excellent reputation, shares the secrets of his success in this accessible 'how-to' guide to painting miniatures.

He takes the reader step-by-step through the whole process, from choice of materials (unlike other available guides it is not linked to any specific figure manufacturer) and preparation of the miniatures to basing and even advice on photographing the finished item.

Techniques such as dry-brushing, ink-washing, shading and highlighting are all explained clearly with the help of step-by-step photographs and colour charts. Specific case studies tackle a variety of useful subjects across all periods, such as mixing realistic flesh tones for different races; painting horses; guns and limbers; Medieval heraldry; Napoleonic uniforms; WW2 and modern camouflage patterns.

Javier also clearly explains how these techniques and processes can be applied to all the major wargaming scales, from 40mm down to 6mm. Whatever historical period (or Sci-fi/Fantasy) and whatever scale the reader is interested in, this book is an invaluable source of practical advice and inspiration.

  • Paladin Flesh

The TWO THIN COATS paint range features primary and secondary colours, as well as flesh tones, natural tones, metallic’s, and washes. All of the paints are designed around a triad system that consists of a shadow, a mid-tone, and a highlight, yet all can be used individually to create whatever result you desire.

TWO THIN COATS paints will stand out due to their flow, how well they can be thinned (of course), the depth of their colour, and their most unique feature, how smooth they are when applying and particularly how smooth the finish is on the end result.

  • Pale Flesh Vallejo Game Air (17ml)

    Introduction

Game Air is a range of water-based, matte acrylic colors, developed especially for airbrushing. The very latest formulation of this range uses new resins that have been selected for qualities which up till now could not be achieved in water based colors. The strength, resistance and covering power of Game Air is superior to any acrylic airbrush colour currently available.  Game Air is also ideal for application by brush to highlight the smallest detail on a miniature. The pigments have been selected according to their degree of light fastness and optimum micronisation. The effects of washes and transparencies can be obtained by diluting the colors and all the colours and varnishes can be mixed together and diluted with airbrush thinner.

    Game Air Colours

The colours in the Game Air range have been selected to appeal to modelers and wargamers who use the existing Game Color range, so are ideal for all fantasy modelling. The names and shades of the most popular colors of Game Color have been retained in Game Air, but using the finer formulation and resins employed for Model Air (see Equivalency Table). In the color chart we include a diagram of the most frequent colour combinations: base color, light and shadow.

    Surfaces

Game Air has exceptional performance on all materials. The adhesion of the colours on resin, plastic, steel and white metal is extraordinary. Moreover the surfaces do not require previous priming. Only in the case of a very dark base may it be useful to first apply a primer in order to increase the brightness of the final colors.

    How to Use

Shake well before using. Pour the paint directly into the airbrush, either undiluted or previously diluted with Thinner (71.261). Colors can be mixed in the cup of the airbrush. Game Air dries almost instantly on the model and permits immediate application of aging processes as well as the use of washes, pigments, and dry-brush techniques.

  • Panzer 38(t)

Most commonly known as the Panzer 38(t), this light tank was originally a Czech design – the LT vz. 38 – which fell under the Third Reich's control when Germany occupied Czechoslovakia in 1938. The 't' in its designation relates to the German for Czech – tschechisch.

    This box set contains:

    One hard plastic Panzer 38(t)
A quick reference Bolt Action Stat card
    A set of damage markers
    A Full-coloured waterslide decal sheet
    A detailed construction leaflet
Well-liked by its crews for its dependability and ease of repair, over 1,400 38(t)s were produced and saw active service for Germany during the invasion of Poland, the Battle for France and on the Eastern Front.

Its light weight made it ideal for use as a fast attack or reconnaissance vehicle. With its armament being considered too light against the increasingly heavier enemy vehicles, manufacture of the 38(t) ceased in 1942. It would continue to serve for the rest of the war both with German and Hungarian, Romanian and Bulgarian militaries (the waterslide decal sheet included allows for variants of each of these nations to be built).

The reliable 38(t) would continue to serve the Wehrmacht well by providing the basis for several highly successful variants such as the Hetzer and Marder tank destroyers, as well as flakpanzers.

This tank can be also be used to reppresent the Luchs (Lynx or Panzer II Ausf. L), as the main differences (a part from a slight size difference) were the design of the track wheels and tracks themselves.

  • Panzer IV Ausf D

The Panzer IV was also developed before the start of the war, as a 20 tonne chassis to carry a 75mm howitzer for close infantry support. It was the largest German tank at the onset of war, and the earliest mark, the Ausf A, saw combat in Poland and France. Like the Panzer III, it would also see a lot of development throughout the war, reaching its finals marks, the Ausf H and Ausf J, by the later years. The Ausf A was developed into the Ausf B, C, D, E and F, all with minor improvements to the engines, suspension and so forth, but fundamentally it remained the same tank. Only with the arrival of the F2 and the addition of a long 75mm high-velocity anti-tank gun did the Panzer IV become a tank capable of taking on enemy tanks of the time. The F2 (known as ‘the Pz IV special’ to Allied forces in the desert) evolved into the G (the same vehicle in effect), and the G evolved into the H with the addition of a slightly improved L/46 75mm gun and better frontal armour. The H would become the standard battle tank, until the final Ausf J was developed, but this only had minor changes, such as the improvement of the gearbox and of the turret roof’s armour. If any tank can claim to be the ‘standard’ battle tank of the German Army then it is the Panzer IV. It was not well-liked by its crews, who were often veterans and very aware of the tank’s drawbacks. They nicknamed it the Sardinenbüchse, ‘Sardine Tin’ due to its relative lack of armour.

The principal service of the D variant was between 1940 and 43. For the purposes of Bolt Action, it is armed with a turret-mounted light howitzer with co-axial MMG and a forward-facing hull-mounted MMG.

Contains 1 metal and resin vehicle.

  • Panzer IV Ausf. F1/G/H medium tank (plastic)

Whilst the propaganda headlines may well have gone to the big cats such as the Panther and the Tiger, the Panzer IV was the backbone of German armoured capability throughout the war.

You can choose to build your Panzer IV as one of three different variants:

    The short-barrelled Ausf. F1.
The long-barrelled Ausf. G with its distinctive ball muzzle brake. Respectfully known by British forces in the desert campaign as the 'Mark 4 Special' it saw action in the Western Desert and the Russian Front primarily.
The Ausf H with its new muzzle brake and protective schürzen side skirts. A regular sight on late war battlefields, the Ausf H is one of the iconic Panzers of the war.
The iconic German tank of the Second World War, the Panzer IV fought from the invasion of Poland to the fall of Berlin. The Panzer IV was constantly updated, with its sound design giving it a longevity well beyond that of its contemporaries. By mid-war it was packing a deadly long-barrelled 75mm gun, giving it great hitting power and better mobility and its armour had been doubled in places greatly increasing its survivability.

By the time of massive battles in Russia in middle of the war the Pz IV was also carrying the detachable screen side armour known as schürzen. This was in response to the threat posed by Russian anti-tank rifles and, latterly, by Allied hollow charge bazooka style weapons.

This is the backbone of the Panzer regiments!

As with the other Bolt Action plastic vehicles, this kit is highly detailed yet easy to build. It provides a rugged gaming piece and will also appeal to painters and modellers.

The Panzer IV comes with a comprehensive waterslide decal sheet, allowing you to finish your new tank off perfectly!

    • The long-barrelled Ausf. G with its distinctive ball muzzle brake. Respectfully known by British forces in the desert campaign as the 'Mark 4 Special' it saw action in the Western Desert and the Russian Front primarily.
    • The Ausf H with its new muzzle brake and protective schürzen side skirts.
