This supplement for Warlord Games Hail Caesar focuses on Rome’s wars under Trajan against the Dacians and their Sarmatian allies. At the end of the first century AD, the Roman Empire was the greatest military power the world had ever seen. All of Western Europe south of the Rhine and the Danube, southern Britain, North Africa, Egypt, the Balkans and most of the Levant was under its control. The mighty Roman army and its legions had rarely known defeat in living memory – and never for very long. One upstart state and its wily, aggressive leader refused to bend the knee. For almost twenty years, and against all odds, King Decebalus of Dacia defied Rome from his fortress capital deep within the Carpathian Mountains. Composed of thousands of savage tribesmen, heavily armoured Sarmatian lancers and even captured Roman weapons, Dacia’s armies proved to be powerful enough to keep the legions at bay. All this was to change with the ascension of the soldier-emperor Trajan, leading to one of antiquity’s greatest conflicts – the Dacian Wars. Featured battles include the Battle of Adamclisi, the Battle of Tapae and the Siege of Sarmizegetusa Regia. Also included are rules for playing skirmish games, fighting sieges and using warships, as well as campaign and hobby ideas. |

Between 58 BC and 50 BC, the military might of the Roman Republic waged a brutal war on the Gallic Celt tribes living in the lands of Gaul. What the Gaul warriors lacked in the drilled discipline of their Roman foes they more than matched them with in ferocity and individual fighting prowess. The Gallic Wars, a deadly clash of cultures and military doctrine, would shape Western Europe for centuries to come. Gaius Julius Caesar's aggressive campaign would ultimately end with Gaul being subsumed into the Roman Republic, and ensure his name would become legendary. Hail Caesar is a game of tabletop massed battles set in the Ancients era. Pit your wits and tactics against your friends as your armies clash in combat on the tabletop. Can you wield the legions of Rome with the same skill and success as Caesar? Or would you prefer to lead Gallic tribes such as the Nervii, Helvetii and Venetii against the invaders as the renowned chieftain Vercingetorix did? Amongst the Haradrim tribes are accomplished horsemen who roam the desert and savannah alike, conducting unrelenting raids upon their neighbours. This box set contains 6 plastic Haradrim Raiders, including 3 with spears, 2 with bows and a banner bearer. Models supplied with 40mm round bases. |
The Haradrim hail from the southernmost lands of Middle-earth, where the landscape is dominated by serpent-infested plains and arid deserts. They are a cruel race of Men, their hearts long ago hardened by the weight of a bloody history and their destiny tied irrevocably to that of Sauron. While they are not bound by his rule like many of his vassals, they choose to fight alongside his armies out of enmity with Gondor. When the Haradrim put aside their petty squabbling and unite under one banner, they do so in numbers that rival the armies of Mordor itself. Swarms of lightly armoured warriors descend upon their foes, peppering them to death with poisoned arrows or attacking them with long, barbed spears. What they lack in terms of skill and training, the men of Harad more than make up for with barbaric cruelty. Life amongst the perpetually warring tribes of Harad has always been hard, for even when there is no greater conflict, the inter-tribal raids grant little peace, and such continual warfare has left the menfolk hardened to the arts of battle. This plastic boxed set contains 32 components, with which to build 24 Haradrim Warriors: 24 with spear, or 24 with bow. This set comes with 24 25mm round bases. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly - we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Paints. |

You'll also find three distinct head options so you can customise it to match your army's aesthetic. This kit comprises 31 plastic components, and comes with a Citadel 90x52.5mm Oval Base. This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints. |

The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries saw the rise of the pike-armed infantryman as well as the increased firepower of black powder weapons on the field of battle.
The heavy "shock" cavalry could either be fended off with long pikes or shot down, no matter how thick their armour. This change of events led commanders to rethink their cavalry tactics. As arquebuses and muskets became cheaper to make and handier to carry in their shortened form, it was found that well drilled horsemen could move quickly across any battlefield and add their fire power at a decisive point. Mounted troops thus equipped with short firearms, carbines as they were later to be called, were called harquebusiers and were raised in great quantities throughout Europe in a series of conflicts. The men were armoured where possible, and carried a good sword, but often used the Caracole tactic of discharging their carbines and wheeling away to reload whilst another rank trotted forward to give fire. On the battlefield they often supported the heavy shock cavalry by disrupting enemy charges and firing upon pike formations until they are vulnerable to a charge. Warlord's boxed set portrays typical mounted harquebusiers of the late 16th and early 17th century, and can represent troops of many nationalities. Contains: - 12 multi-part metal Harquebusiers (including command) 12 plastic horses Plastic bases Background guide SIx Full-colour flags for Thirty Years War Models supplied unassembled and unpainted |
