The LCVP (Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel) Higgins boat could hold either a 36-man platoon, a jeep and a 12-man squad, or 8,000 lb (3.6 t) of cargo. Its shallow draft (3 feet aft and 2 feet, 2 inches forward) & clever design that pretected the propeller, enabled it to run right up onto the shoreline.

The steel ramp at the front could be lowered quickly allowing troops to swiftly disembark, the boat could then reverse itself off the beach, and head back out to the supply ship for another load within three to four minutes.

  • Nachmund Gauntlet Crusade Campaign

    The Invasion Begins

The Nachmund Gauntlet is the largest and most stable of the known routes across the Great Rift. Once a lifeline to deliver reinforcements to those cut off from Holy Terra, it is now a channel through which the destructive treachery of the Traitor Legions can flow from the Imperium Nihilus. The forces of Abaddon the Despoiler have bludgeoned their way through the Nachmund Gauntlet, with his herald – Haarken Worldclaimer – at their speartip. Only the hastily defended Sanctus Wall of loyal systems stand poised to resist, already weakened by heretical agents. On the fortified world of Sangua Terra, grand strategies of conquest and defiance are entwined with bold heroism and darkest betrayal.

This 120-page hardback book is a Crusade expansion for Warhammer 40,000. It captures the rich narrative of the battle for the Nachmund Gauntlet as Haarken Worldclaimer unveils his grand strategies of conquest and defiance. The book also includes the rules to play narrative games, build and upgrade a Crusade army between battles, and run your own campaigns.

    PATHS OF RUINATION
A narrative introduction to the setting, the trail of destruction leading to the heretic assault on the Sanctus Wall, and the strategies made in preparation. The story of this frantic battle for survival is told through stories, maps, illustrations, and a comprehensive bestiary of the Warlords of Sangua Terra.

    CRUSADE RULES
The rules you will need to take your army on a Crusade across the stars. Crusade campaigns allow you to track the development of your army between games, acquiring resources – and injuries – with each victory or defeat, turning the greenest of recruits into hard-bitten veterans over the course of many battles.

    THE SANGUA TERRAN WAR
A wealth of exciting Crusade rules content to help you play out a Nachmund Gauntlet campaign on the tabletop, as any number of players form alliances between Guardians, Despoilers, and Marauders. You'll also find unique Battle Traits, Crusade Relics, Agendas, and Crusade Blessings – themed around the Sangua Terran War.

    MISSIONS
15 immersive and exciting Crusade missions, perfect for narrative games and for your Nachmund Gauntlet campaign. These include Purge After Inload, Heralds of Vengeance, Beachhead Offensive, and All-out War.

    ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Included with the book are a set of photocopiable assets comprising two Crusade cards and an Order of Battle, as well as a double-sided A2 poster depicting the Urbanosprawl Alpha which can be used to track Campaign progress. The reverse side shows artwork of the Adepta Sororitas battling the Night Lords.

A copy of the Warhammer 40,000: Core Book, available separately, is required to use the contents of this expansion.

  • Nachtjager Sourcebook Battle for Germany 1945

The British Army is at the Rhine, ready to cross into Germany. Opposing them are the resolute troops of the German Kriegsmarine (navy personnel) and the newlyraised Panzerdivision ‘Clauswitz’. When the hammer falls in late March 1945, fierce night battles erupt all along the front. Small gaps are created through which fly new better armoured and upgunned Comet tanks, the pinnacle in British cruiser tank design. However, the night-fighters of Panzerdivision ‘Clausewitz’ with their infra-red equipment await them in the shadows.

Nachtjäger covers the final battles of World War II in northern Germany.

  • Napoleonic Belgian Line Infantry

The Dutch and Belgian contingents of the Waterloo campaign formed a third of the allied army, making the regiments vital to Wellington's success. The Iron Duke was uncertain of their fighting qualities at first as many of the soldiers in the regiments had been serving in La Grand Armée under the Corsican ogre, Bonaparte, just a year or so before! Wellington need not have feared as the Dutch and Belgian infantry broadly held firm despite massive attacks from the French columns, including repulsing an Old Guard attack at the end of a long and bloody day.

Box contains 24 Warlord Resin Belgian Line Infantry miniatures (includes command group of officer, drummer, ensign and NCO), full-colour flag sheet and plastic bases.

Although we know that it is unlikely Dutch and Belgian troops would have carried colours at Waterloo, we have included a full-colour flag sheet as we know wargamers love to see their units literally flying the flag.

  • Napoleonic British 95th Rifles - Chosen Men

The 95th Rifles were an elite unit of hard marching, sharp shooting light infantry that served in many bloody battles of the Napoleonic Wars. Unusually they did not wear the classic red coat of the British army, but instead a dark bottle green uniform which gave them their nickname of the ‘Sweeps’ or the ‘Grasshoppers’ by their French foes.

They were equipped with the Baker rifle – a supremely accurate weapon for the period – which would hit single targets at ranges unheard of for the smoothbore muskets which most other troops carried.

They earned a superb reputation in the Peninsular campaign and later at Waterloo, being battalions that Wellington could rely upon. To help maintain the effectiveness of the companies, reliable and trusted men would be issued with a white tape around the arm distinguishing them as ‘chosen men’ and expected to inspire the rank and file.

To make up for the short length of their rifles, they were issued with wicked looking sword bayonets, long enough to give a parity against an enemy bayonet.

  • Napoleonic British Line Infantry (Peninsular War)

Widely held as the finest body of fighting men to have fought under the Union flag, the British army in the Peninsular campaign tasted defeat but were far more often to be found savouring yet another victory over their old foe, the French.

Led by great commanders such as Moore, Crauford and Wellesley, the British army was a well-drilled and, on the whole, disciplined force that saw service on the Iberian Peninsula from 1808 until the end of the campaign in 1814.

The redcoated British foot regiments were ably supported by their Portugese, Spanish and German allies in addition to their countrymen in the cavalry and artillery. This multi-national force subjected defeat after defeat on Bonaparte's French, bringing such battle honours as Vitoria, Salamanca, Talavera, and the brutal siege of Badajoz into British military legend.

    Contains:

  • Napoleonic British Line Infantry (Waterloo Campaign)

With the return of the French tyrant Napoleon Bonaparte from his exile on the island of Elba, Britain and her allies of the 7th Alliance once again prepared to face the might of the French Army in what would be known as the Hundred Days Campaign.

The rain-lashed weekend of 17th and 18th June 1815 saw the Allied forces end twenty years of continuous warfare – warfare that spanned the globe – in a series of violent and bloody battles at Quatre Bras, Ligny, Wavre and Waterloo.

At the decisive battle of Waterloo, redcoated British foot regiments, supported by their massed artillery and the noble cavalrymen, battled the rain and the mud as well as the hated French. Their Prussian Allies struggled to join with them, only reaching the fields of Waterloo late on Sunday 18th June.

Sir Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, rooted his Allied army to the ridge at Waterloo for over nine hours as Bonaparte’s French threw everything at them. The steadfast British veterans of the Peninsular campaign served their King and country well once more and with the Prussians taking to the field before nightfall, the day was won for the Allies and the brilliant Bonaparte’s reign of terror was finally ended.

  • Napoleonic French Line Lancers

In 1809, at the battle of Wagram, some Polish light horse fighting for Napoleon seized lances from Austrian Uhlan prisoners and used them with good effect. Impressed by their use, Bonaparte ordered nine regiments to be formed, six of them clothed in green and three in blue. With their nine-foot ash pole lances, red and white pennants, and topped off with gleaming brass classical helmets they cut quite a dash on the battlefield. Lancers were unusual as they could take their place in the battleline and fight it out with enemy cavalry or infantry, but they were most often used in scouting, raiding, and – especially in Spain and Russia – in skirmishing, even fighting dismounted where the situation arose. Armed with a wicked lance, sabre, and at times a carbine and up to two pistols, the French line lancer was a formidable foe! This Warlord Games boxed set contains: 12 plastic easy-build French Light Cavalry Lancers. 1 additional metal officer and metal horse. 1 additional metal bugler. Optional metal arm for eagle bearer. Although a standard unit size for French Lancers would be 12 in most games, this box allows you to make 13 mounted French Lancers, giving you the choice of fielding them with or without command models.

  • Napoleonic French Old Guard Grenadiers

There are few soldiers more famous than the Grenadiers of the Old Guard, veteran soldiers of many campaigns who would literally give their lives for their Emperor if needed.

Formed from the Consular Guards in 1804, they were the elite of an elite, each man hand-picked for his height and military bearing. They proudly grew fierce moustaches, powdered their pigtailed hair, and wore gold earrings which gave them a glamorous if wild countenance.

These loyal soldiers served their Emperor well and earned their nickname ‘Les Grognards’ (grumblers) as they marched all over Europe, smashing France’s foes on battlefield after battlefield.

They were finally defeated in the savage fighting at the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815. Much of their action at this battle was hand-to-hand against Prussian troops and British firepower under the darkening skies. Such was their reputation and prowess in battle that they left a fighting legacy none could match.

This Warlord Games boxed set contains Old Guard Grenadiers in campaign overalls, ready to fight for the honour of France and her Emperor.

  • Napoleonic Late French Chasseurs Light Cavalry

Formed originally back in 1743, the Chasseurs a Cheval (mounted hunters) were hard riding, green clad light cavalry whose main role was patrolling and raiding for the French armies. A good Chasseur was at home on his light horse, skirmishing with the enemy cavalry or scouting enemy movements and thus providing valuable intelligence for their commanders.

Armed with carbine, curved sabre and bayonet (an item disliked by the cavalrymen who used it to dig up vegetables or ‘lost’ it on campaign) the Chasseurs were most happy in the saddle, although they were also trained to fight on foot should the need arise.

At the height of the French Army under Bonaparte’s reign there were 31 regiments of Chasseurs a Cheval although only 15 regiments were available for the titanic Hundred Days campaign that culminated at the Battle of Waterloo. Our superbly detailed Chasseurs à Cheval are provided with covered and uncovered shakos as well as the colpacks favoured by the elite companies.

Although requested not to wear the sabretache beyond 1808 many Chasseurs would keep this item well beyond this decree and thus we’ve included it on our models. For those of you wishing to follow regulations over reality simply snip the sabretache off.

This Warlord Games box set contains:

  • Napoleonic Late French Line Infantry (1812-1815)

En avant! The cry went up in hundreds of French throats as the blue columns marched forward on the battlefields across Europe. The all conquering French line infantry ‘Les Bleus’ used a combination of massed columns, fast manoeuvre, and firepower to shatter the armies of Prussia, Austria, Spain and Russia, culminating in a death struggle against Wellington and Blucher’s alliance at Waterloo in 1815.

Well led and confident of victory, the average French soldier swept almost all foes before them, living off the land as they marched. Beyond the glory of victory over their foes, there was the chance of medals, promotion to the guard, or even acknowledgement from the Emperor himself!

These Warlord Games models are dressed in greatcoats worn so often on the field of battle to save the smart uniform for the inevitable victory parade.

  • Napoleonic Portuguese Line Infantry

The Portuguese had never been fond of their Spanish neighbours. This was doubly so when in 1807 Napoleon sent a large French and Spanish army across the border to crush Portugal and take its fleet to continue their war against the detested British. Great Britain and Portugal, however, had been old allies for countless years, and before long a largely untried British general called Wellesley was sent from London to eject the French from Portuguese soil.

The Portuguese troops were brave but unskilled, and outnumbered in the early days of the conflict. Reforms of the Portuguese army taken by Sir Lt.General William Beresford changed that, adopting British drill and tactics. The changes transformed the Portuguese into an effective fighting force. The allied army was carefully organised with units of both nations mixed into divisions giving, it a distinctive character and indeed spurring on each nation to outperform the other.

  • Napoleonic Russian Line Infantry (1812-1815)

The infantry formed the backbone of all armies in the Napoleonic Wars, but no army relied more on its humble private foot soldier than that of Imperial Russia.

Brave, stubborn and resilient they had to cope with poor conditions, worse supplies and a cadre of mostly incompetent officers. Whenever western observers spent time with the Russian army they were constantly amazed by the sheer tenacity and good humour of the average Russian infantryman in the face of adversity.

Many thousands of men were pushed through the Imperial war machine to take to the fields of Europe in defiance of Napoleon. Often they were on the receiving end of awful punishment but rarely wavered. French officers were in awe of their ability to withstand artillery fire, cavalry charges and the famous French attack columns. It was said that only when you bayonetted them could you be sure you were dealing with mere men.

The Russians did seem to make use of the bayonet more often than any other army; it suited their character to get stuck in. In addition, the Russian army was usually ill-equipped and the quality of their muskets was generally inferior to that of their enemies'. Bayonets were always reliable!

Contrary to opinion it was not fear of punishment or excessive alcohol consumption that drove these men to fight on when others may have crumbled – rather an unwillingness to accept defeat.

Recruitment was never a problem for the Russian army. Many of the recruits came from an agricultural background of serfdom, little more than illiterate slaves. The army offered a steady income and regular meals. Any hardship they may suffer was an improvement for many so conscription was not usually seen as a curse. Service was for life, although this was reduced to 25 years after 1805 – effectively still a life service in all but name. Upon conscription a man would depart his village as if he were already dead, with ceremonies to that effect such were the slim hopes he would ever return.

This box set is designed to allow you to field one regiment of Russian infantry. The variants in the box allow you to field both musketeers or grenadiers along with a command section to lead them into battle. We have also provided a selection of flags from a number of regiments so you can get them into the action right away.

  • Napoleonic Spanish foot artilery 8-Pdr

‘The best of a bad lot’ the artillerymen of the Spanish Army displayed spirit and courage that was rarely matched by their countrymen. Batteries were split between horse and foot, the former having 4 pounders and the latter having 8 pounders. Batteries were supposed to have six guns each, but this was rarely achieved and batteries usually had four guns only. The fact that the batteries were called foot or horse meant little; a severe shortage of horses meant both were drawn in the main by mules and oxen.

Contains one 28mm metal 8-pdr field gun with four metal Spanish foot artillery crew.

  • Natal Native Contingent Regiment

Largely being used as support for the Main British forces in South Africa they became the main defense force against the Zulu forces. Recruited from the local populace, mainly from the Basuto and Mponso tribes, this force excelled in dealing with Zulu due to an extensive history of fighting them.

Given mainly menial labouring jobs they eventually saw action on the front with varying results, some fighting hard and to the last man alongside their British comrades, whilst others they broke alongside the NCO's. In either case, even if they fight today or tomorrow, they will certainly fight to the last.

Providing support for the British army these loyal chaps are just the job whether you're looking to refight Isandlwana, Ulundi, or the other battles during 1879.

    Contains:

Enough plastic components to make 32 Natal Native Contingent.
