  • Victrix: Dark Age Carolingian Franks Armoured Infantry

36 x Carolingian Franks Armoured Infantry

This set contains 36 highly detailed armoured Carolingian warriors from the 8th to the 11th centuries, with a wide variety of armour styles, weapons, shields and head options.

Carolingian infantry were known for their stubbornness in battle, fighting in closely packed shield walls that were difficult to break. Infantry formed the majority of early Carolingian armies, although cavalry became increasingly important as the Franks came into contact with the Avars and other mounted peoples.

These armoured warriors can represent elite Carolingian infantry or dismounted cavalry. They wear a varied selection of armour, including mail, scale and lamellar, all of which are known to have been used by Carolingian troops.

Weapons include stout spears, many with the distinctive cross guard below the spearhead, along with knives, hand axes and swords. Carolingian swords were highly prized for their quality, combining strength with lightness and excellent craftsmanship.

Clothing typically consisted of a long-sleeved tunic with contrasting decorative borders, often worn with a cloak. Leg bindings were common, while contemporary artwork also depicts the distinctive Carolingian "tulip" style boots.

With a few shield swaps, these figures can also be mixed easily with Victrix Saxons, Vikings and Normans, giving you even more variety for your Dark Age armies. They also work extremely well in fantasy games and settings.

6 identical sprues. Each sprue includes:

    6 armoured Carolingian warriors
9 spears -Enough to arm all 36 figures with spears. Many feature the distinctive cross guard associated with Carolingian spearheads.
16 hand weapons -A selection of sword arms with varied hilt and pommel designs, along with hand axes for additional variety.
6 shields -Distinctive dished and convex Carolingian shields with embossed details including studs, plaques and stitching. Carolingian shields were often brightly painted in solid colours or swirling patterns.
    6 sword scabbards
    4 knife scabbards
4 cloaks -Enough to equip 24 figures with flowing and draped cloaks inspired by contemporary Carolingian artwork.
19 heads -A huge variety of characterful heads and helmet styles. There are 114 heads in total across the set, with some also featuring optional crests or face pieces for even more variety.
Command parts -Horn arms and standard bearer arms are included, allowing you to create musicians and banner bearers.

  • Victrix: Dark Age Carolingian Franks Unarmoured Infantry

    36 x Carolingian Unarmoured Infantry

This highly detailed plastic set represents unarmoured Carolingian and Frankish warriors from the 8th to the 11th centuries.

The Carolingian Empire was one of the great powers of early medieval Europe, reaching its height under Charlemagne, who united much of Western and Central Europe and was crowned Emperor in A.D. 800. His reign helped shape the political and military landscape of medieval Europe for centuries to come.

Carolingian infantry formed the backbone of early Frankish armies. Known for their stubbornness in battle, they would gather around their lords or fight in close-packed groups, forming dense shield walls in much the same way as their Saxon and Viking contemporaries. Infantry remained the dominant arm of Carolingian armies until increasing contact with the Avars and other mounted peoples encouraged a greater reliance on cavalry.

Typical weapons included stout spears, often fitted with a distinctive cross guard beneath the spearhead, along with knives, axes and heavy wooden clubs. Swords were rarer and more expensive, but Carolingian examples were renowned for their quality, strength and lightness.

Clothing usually consisted of a long-sleeved tunic with contrasting decorative borders, often worn with a long cloak. Leg bindings were common, while contemporary artwork also shows the distinctive Carolingian "tulip" style boots.

With a few shield swaps, these figures can also be mixed easily with Victrix Saxons, Vikings and Normans, giving you even more variety for your Dark Age armies. They are also ideal for fantasy armies and conversions.

    What's included?

Each sprue contains 6 highly detailed unarmoured Carolingian warriors and a huge range of weapon, head and equipment options.

  • Volturnos High King of the Deep Idoneth Deepkin

Volturnos High King of the Deep Idoneth Deepkin is a multi-part plastic kit that contains the components necessary to assemble Volturnus, High King of the Deep. Very much prepared for war, he wears splendid, heavy plate armour – of particular note are the leg and shoulder coverings, which extend far further than his actual shoulders, providing support for the enormous, wide cloak which billows outward and downward, featuring Idoneth symbols at the edges. In his gauntleted right hand he holds the Astra Solus, a wicked-looking serrated blade, and in the left hefts Cealith, the High King’s shield. Above his shaved head (complete with eyepatch!) is the Crest of the High Kings – a tall, majestic banner with carved metal Idoneth symbols and a large jewel featuring prominently. His mount, Uasall, is a Deepmare of renown – a massive, scaled creature whose forelegs end in huge talons and whose rear half splits into 3 powerful tails, distinguishable from other Deepmares by his larger piercing horn. An aelven waystone is included as an atmospheric piece of detail for the base.

This kit comes as 45 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 60mm Round base.

The kit can optionally be used to assemble an Akhelian King.
