'Armies of Germany 2nd Edition' is a supplement for the award winning tabletop wargame Bolt Action, and deals with the German Army of World War II. Within you will find background and details of the German Army’s organisation and equipment from the beginning of the war (the invasion of Poland in 1939) to the very end (the fall of Berlin in 1945). Central to this book is its Army List. This includes all the information you will need to play games using the German Army. This large list details all the main troop types, vehicles and equipment fielded by the Germany Army during World War II. Alongside this main list are a number of Theatre Selectors, which give the force details for different periods and theatres of the war. These are not definitive, but are designed to give a theatre-specific flavour and character to a force. Over six years of fighting the German Army changed a lot, and many units and vehicles that were common in 1939 were obsolete by 1945 - and there were countless oddities and exceptions on every front. These sub-lists allow players to select forces suitable for the theatre in which they are playing. What's New? We've taken the opportunity to include additional units and options, we've revised a few points costs here-and-there, and made some more changes to bring the book more in-line with the rest of the range... here's a teaser of what you'll find inside... Army Special Rules German forces now have FOUR Army Special Rules - some of which you'll be familiar with, some you won't...
Couple all of this with tactical notes, invaluable historical background text, gorgeous artwork and reference imagery from the masterful Peter Dennis and Osprey Publishing, and Armies of Germany 2nd Edition is the must-have Bolt Action book for all German generals out in the field! |

In Italy, the fight continues! Webstore Exclusive Book Miniature: One of the most endearing stories of the war was that of Wojtek the Bear – a Brown Bear cub adopted by Polish soldiers in Persia. Fed cigarettes and beer, Wojtek would march like a soldier and wrestle with his human friends. Legend has it that Wojtek carried crates of ammunition to his comrades during the battle at Cassino and for this effort he was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Now you can field Corporal Wojtek in your games of Bolt Action! |

Throughout the autumn of 1944, the Axis forces in the Carpathian Basin were fighting for their very existence. Campaign: Fortress Budapest will inspire and guide you through the entirety of this particular conflict and on to many more victories with your Bolt Action forces! What is this book? The Siege of Budapest, the Soviet invasion of Hungary that led up to it, and the desperate German offensives to relieve the city covered kilometres of frontline; these battles lasted eight months and involved hundreds of thousands of combatants. Within the 168 pages of this impressive resource, the authors have squeezed in a variety of very different scenarios for players. Fortress Budapest is the latest Campaign expansion to Bolt Action Second edition. Whilst there is historical detail within the narrative, this volume is not a history book – it is first and foremost an impressive wargaming supplement. The intention of the author Bryan Cook and the team who put this book together was to provide a good mixture of scenarios, new units, and new rules whilst still giving some historical background for context. Some previously published rules and units have also been reprinted – this is to save players the expense of buying additional books for content which is vital to this volume, but might form only a small part of other books. This new campaign supplement for Bolt Action allows players to recreate the historic island-hopping battles between US and Imperial Japanese forces in the Pacific theatre that took place in 1944. Even whilst the Allies stormed the beaches of Normandy, US forces were beginning to sweep across the Pacific in their own Blitzkrieg, fighting embittered and ferocious battles across tiny strips of land against tenacious Japanese defenders. The battles described are concerned with the campaigns of the Mariana and Palau Islands specifically and a number of battles are described in great detail, including those of Saipan, Guam, Peleliu and Anguar. The fighting during these campaigns was controversial and bloody, rivalling the battle of Stalingrad for sheer inhumanity in some instances. Though there were many other battles within these campaigns, their number makes them impossible to describe them all in full within a single volume. The book gives players enough tools to recreate any other battles themselves, should they wish. A wealth of scenarios are included to represent some of the most important battles and are presented in such a way to form an extended campaign. You’ll find new units for the Japanese and United States (both the US Army and Marines), and all the special rules you need to play; including, crucially, those for amphibious assaults, dug in defenders and tropical hazards amongst many others. |
Campaign: Market Garden complements the Bolt Action wargame system by providing information and scenarios for games set in the greatest airborne operation ever mounted... For Bolt Action players Market Garden has it all – daring attacks, determined resistance and heroic last stands by American, British, German and Polish troops ranging from elite veteran paratroopers to novices and from obsolete armoured cars to King Tiger tanks. This volume covers a very short space of time compared to other Bolt Action campaign books – just a matter of nine days in September 1944 – and is focused on a much smaller geographical area; a single narrow route through the Netherlands rather than a broad sweep of very variable terrain across several countries. The fighting was incredibly intense; you’ll find bullets, blood, bombs, and bravery in abundance. The Allies struggled to keep the road open and the Germans struggled to cut it, so both sides engaged in attacks and counter-attacks over the same ground and therefore faced the same challenges. Inside Campaign: Market Garden you'll flow through 116 pages full of glorious content, history, stunning art and photography, new rules and units! The New Guinea campaign spanned several years and thousands of miles; to even attempt to summarise such a huge campaign into a book of this size is to accept that it cannot do justice to those who fought in it. Bolt Action's next step within its gaming world is exploring the downfall of the Third Reich. Diving through the Eastern front, you'll be able to learn about the very bloody and arduous operations both Germany and the Soviets endured, and the uprising of the Polish AK and Czech forces. With unrelenting leadership and an absurd amount of 'political motivation', the Russians finally managed to expose Nazi Germany after brutal years of fighting. In June 1944 the Axis powers in Europe were about to be subjected to two major hammer blows. In the West, the final preparations were being made for Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Western Europe. In the East, the Red Army was planning a massive offensive, with bold objectives to critically damage the German Army and eject it entirely from the Soviet Union and, by pushing deep into Poland, providing the springboard for later offensives that would eventually find the Red Army in the streets of Berlin ushering in the final collapse of Hitler’s Third Reich. For the Germans, a sense of fatalism began to grow, whilst amongst the Soviets, spirits rose. After the months of crushing defeats, encirclements and mass capitulations, the Germans were finally revealed to be beatable and their aura of invincibility had finally been ripped aside. This is well illustrated by a common story from the end of the Stalingrad operations where Soviet troops harassing sullen German prisoners, pointed at the remains of the devastated city and screamed that it would only be a matter of time before Berlin resembled the ruins of Stalingrad. Contained within in the 148 pages of detailed text, breathtaking imagery and full-colour art, this book also has: Campaign Overview Operation Bargration Fighting Bargration Which includes scenarios, special rules and historical context Bargration Theatre Selectors Which includes famous platoons such as the 53rd Guards tank Brigade, German Heavy Tank Abteilung and the 5th Panzer Division! When compared to the enormous campaigns waged on the Eastern Front and in Western Europe during World War II, the struggle in North Africa between the British Commonwealth and the Axis might seem an unimportant sideshow. However, its influence and impact were far-reaching and dictated many strategic decisions that influenced the course of the war. This Bolt Action campaign book will focus on the conflict in the area most commonly referred to as the Western Desert - a campaign theatre reaching from the Libyan city of Tripoli to Cairo, and the Egyptian Nile valley, a distance of some 1300 miles, a featuring some of the most hostile terrains on Earth. It covers a period of time from September 1940 when Mussolini's Italian Army invaded British-held Egypt to the final retreat of Rommel's Afrika Korps from Egypt during October 1942. During that period the conflict witnessed much hard fighting resulting in spectacular victories and the capture of territory, equipment and prisoners for both sides whilst also subjecting them to a series of demoralising retreats where final and irrevocable defeat seemed assured. This campaign book focuses on some of the key clashes fought in Normandy in the summer of 1944 as British, Canadian, Polish, and other Allied forces engaged in desperate battles against a dedicated and determined German opposition. As well as summarising the history, this book also details a number of scenarios inspired by the engagements within the Normandy campaign, and the special rules required to play them. This book tells the story of the British and Canadian contribution to this monumental task, and the stoic German resistance they faced. It guides Bolt Action players from the latter stages of D-Day, beginning with the fierce fighting in the coastal towns off the beaches at Gold, Juno and Sword, through the violent clashes around the strategically vital city of Caen, and to the march against Germany itself. Inside, you’ll find thirteen diverse scenarios, covering the action from the first pushes inland, to the dramatic climax of the campaign in the British & Canadian sectors during Operation Tractable. We’ve also included army lists for four of the campaign’s most important forces – the Canadian Army, the battle-hardened Commandos, the fanatical 12th SS Panzer Division ‘Hitlerjugend’, and the Luftwaffe Field Division. These new army lists add a whole new dimension of play, allowing you to create themed forces for your campaigns in Normandy! We’ve also included a whole stable of new special characters, including the VC-winning medic Corporal Frederick Topham, who put life and limb on the line to rescue wounded men, and the fanatical Kurt ‘Panzer’ Meyer, who earned his Iron Cross leading the Liebstandarte division’s reconnaissance battalion in Russia. These special characters are the perfect opportunity to theme your force further and make for amazing conversion opportunities. |
Fought between 1950 and 1953, the Korean War was one of the first major conflicts of the Cold War. Backed by the Soviet Union and Communist China, the North Korean regime battled for control of the peninsula against the South Korean government and a 21-country UN task force. The Korean War is unique and interesting in the annals of world and military history in its own right. An aspect rarely discussed is the cultural implications of so many Western, non-Western and European nations fighting against combatants from the Orient. Due to the vast cultural diversity of so many nations fighting in such a geographically small area, cultural differences would have a significant impact on how the combatants treated each other on the field of battle. These differences went beyond simple language barriers, they included problems in logistics, religion, personnel replacements and the method in which war was conducted. Inside the book, you'll find a comprehensive history of the conflict with details of every major battle fought between the two sides. It also includes details of the various forces and their organisation, commanders, and equipment. Scenarios are provided for many of the battles, along with comprehensive force selectors to help you assemble your force. A copy of the Bolt Action 2nd Edition rules is needed to use this supplement. |

This six-month-long battle saw some of the fiercest fighting of the war, with each side losing hundreds of thousands of men and culminating in the encirclement and eventual destruction of the German Sixth Army. While this book provides a historical overview of the Stalingrad campaign, its primary purpose is to provide new scenarios, rules, and inspiration to help wargamers bring this bitter struggle to life on the tabletop. This book covers the southern region of the Ostfront from August 1942 to February 1943 including: The opposed crossing of the Don River The dash to the Volga river by German mobile divisions Soviet counter-attacks against the German cordon of Stalingrad The fighting for control of the city of Stalingrad Operation Uranus and the subsequent encirclement of the German Sixth Army Operation Winter Tempest: Manstein’s attempt to break the encirclement of the Sixth Army The final destruction of the Sixth Army Vasily Zaitsev model available while stocks last |

Despite a spirited defence from the opening hours of the Normandy invasion in June 1944, Hitler’s forces in northern France were comprehensively defeated and forced to retreat westward. Although their position was strengthened considerably following Operation Dragoon – the landing in southern France in August 1944 – the Allies were faced with considerable logistical problems as they advanced towards Germany, spreading their lines of communications and support thinner with every mile. Operation Market Garden, the massive airborne assault of September 1944, failed to meet its objectives and the momentum of the Allied advance was further threatened. German forces were able to capitalize on this and with mounting pressure from the east as Soviet forces prepared for a winter offensive, Hitler decided to launch one last gamble – a massive counter offensive against the Allies in December 1944. The German assault (including 45-divisions) launched against American defenders dug in across the Ardennes region led to the largest single battle fought by the US Army in the entire twentieth century. The stakes could not have been higher for either side – for Germany it truly was a last attempt to avoid being completely overwhelmed by the Western Allies, whilst for the American forces bearing the brunt of the assault, there was a very real threat that a German breakthrough could have undone all of the successes since D-Day. Code named Operation Watch on the Rhine by German forces, the initial successes of the campaign led to a worrying and distinctive bulge in the Allied front line, leading to the Allied press giving the offensive an immortal moniker: The Battle of the Bulge. Inside Battle Of the Bulge Battle Of The Bulge is a campaign expansion to Bolt Action & compatible with both 1st and 2nd editions. Crammed with scenarios, new units and new rules whilst still giving some historical background for context. Produced by Fiat Ansaldo, the M13/40 was the main battle tank of the Italian army in World War II and served throughout the war following its introduction in 1940. Although designated as a medium tank it was more in line with the light tanks of other nations at the time. With armour up to 42mm thick, and armed with a 47mm main gun backed up by up to four 8mm machine guns, it carried a four-man crew. Its diesel engine, whilst underpowered, giving a top speed of around 20mph, was less vulnerable to catching fire and had better range than petrol-fuelled vehicles. The most widely produced Italian tank of the war, the M13/40 battled on in the Western Desert and Italy despite Allied tanks far eclipsing it in firepower, speed and protection. This superb plastic kit can alternatively be assembled as a Semovente tank. The Semovente 75/18 self-propelled gun brings some much needed armoured reinforcements to Italian forces. The Semovente was an Italian self-propelled gun, built by mounting the 75mm Obice da 75/18 modello 34 mountain gun on the chassis of a M13/40 or M14/41 tank. It had riveted steel plates, which were thicker but also less sloped than in the original tank. Frontal armour was almost vertical, but it consisted of two plates rather than a single layer, which improved stopping power. You may think these tanks may only be for Italian Bolt Action armies, but you’d be dead wrong. Captured examples of the M13 were used by the Australians at Tobruk and the Germans were known to use Semoventes. The kit has you covered, including a decal sheet with Italian army, German army and Australian Army markings. Contains 1 plastic tank |
The heat builds up as we go from one theatre with extreme conditions to another, this time desert warfare in the African and Italian campaigns. Packed with explosive action from the initial clashes between the British and Italian armies in Libya, and Britain’s first unexpected victories, through the ill-fated British expedition to protect Greece from Hitler’s invading troops, and the subsequent desperate battles of British and Commonwealth forces in Crete against determined German paratroopers. From there we move onto the epic tank duels in the deserts of North Africa as Hitler reinforced Mussolini’s battered forces with the deadly Afrika Korps, and the ultimate showdown between two legendary desert commanders, Rommel and Montgomery, at El Alamein. We then have the debut of the Americans into the African theatre, their bloody setback at Kasserine Pass, and eventual success in helping to clear North Africa of Axis influence. Finishing with the Allied invasions of Sicily and mainland Italy, and the stubborn German defence that resisted the invaders almost up to the end of the war in Europe. |
Far from the battlefields of Europe and North Africa, Allied forces fought a very different war against another foe, from the jungles of Burma to the islands of the Pacific and the shores of Australia. This new Theatre Book for Bolt Action allows players to command the spearhead of the lightning Japanese conquests in the East or to fight tooth and nail as Chindits, US Marines and other Allied troops to halt the advance and drive them back. Scenarios, special rules and new units give players everything they need to recreate the ferocious battles and campaigns of the Far East, from Guadalcanal to Okinawa, Singapore, the Philippines, Iwo Jima and beyond. |
Description The Pak 43 was the most formidable German anti-tank gun used in significant numbers during the war and one of the most dreaded weapons to be found on the battlefield. This was a version of the same high-velocity 88mm gun that equipped the Tiger II, and it was easily capable of penetrating and destroying even the most heavily armoured Allied tanks, including such monsters as the Soviet IS-II. It was a very heavy weapon and early versions were fixed to a stable cruciform mount much like the Flak version of the weapon. However, by the late war, this had been augmented by a split-trail wheeled carriage – a version known as the ‘barn door’ from the appearance of the gun’s large, flat gun shield. This stunning 28 mm model contains all the parts required to build 1 metal Pak 43 anti-tank gun with its 5 man crew, plus its Bolt Action data card (base not included). |
Operation Sea Lion has proceeded, both sides have lost a lot and as a result the remainder of the German forces have been pushed to Kent where they prepare their defences against the inevitable British attack. The German high command refuse to let their blitzkrieg falter at this stage and concoct a brave, audacious and completely unexpected plan... Operation Gigant is phase two of the theoretical plan to invade Britain that has been brought forward and into action as phase one falters! Glider borne troops and vehicles are bought in to create a surprise second front in North East England, splitting the British defences still further and driving a steel wedge down through the heart of the British countryside! Packed with new units to defend (or destroy) Britain's defences, new scenarios on what could of been historical battles, re-construct your whole army with new theatre selectors and more off-the-wall special rules dedicated to the scientific wonders created to invade, and defend, Britain! This time however, the Panzerbrigades will leave their treads within the mud of the British countryside and over the rubble of humble villages. With the Germans coming into Britain once again but with their complete force, can the British and the remaining Allies hold the Germans off again? Or will the German war machine repeat their success in France and steamroll over Britain? |
Scale: 28mm - 1/56th 10 Infantry (Metal). Requires Assembly. This product is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints not included. Description Although the majority of infantry forces fielded by the Royal Hungarian Army in 1944–45 were not combat hardened, there were some experienced units after 3 years of fighting on the Eastern Front. Infantry Divisions of the Hungarian First Army had recently fought in the defence of Galicia in early 1944, and would put their experience to good use, like the 25th Division at the Battle of Tordá and the 10th Division inside the Budapest pocket. A Hungarian rifle platoon was not as well trained in infantry tactics as their German comrades, nor did it possess their firepower. Although, with 3 sections of 13 men the Magyars did have an advantage in manpower, and the issuing of modern panzerfausts gave them a chance against Soviet tanks that their countrymen on the Don River in 1942 did not. |

Description Available in this neat box set, the Hungarian Army Support Group - grab yourself the new Hungarian HQ, Medium Machine Gun and Medium Mortar! Hungarian Army HQ Since 1872, the Ludovica Military Academy had been turning out competent and efficient officers and graduated the majority of officers for the Hungarian Army. A core of competent and educated officers struggled to handle the large expansion of the Hungarian Army to meet the needs of the Eastern Front. The Hungarians enjoyed a professional and experienced core of staff officers. Hungarian Army Medium Machine Gun Team The Schwarzlose 7/31M machine gun was used extensively in World War I and put to use right away in the new conflict. Hungarian Army Medium Mortar Team Like virtually all nations, the Hungarians adopted a medium mortar based on the French Brandt 81.4mm. The 36/39M was common throughout the Hungarian Defence Force and employed modern shaped charges to good effect. |
Scale: 28mm - 1/56th 10 Infantry Metal Requires Assembly This product is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints not included. Description The 1st Hungarian Parachute Battalion was formed in 1940 with transportation provided by the national airline Mágyar Légiforgalmi R.t. They saw their first combat experience against Yugoslavia in 1941 where they captured the Franz Josef Canal after some initial mishaps. The paratroopers did not see combat again until the 19 December 1944 when, as part of the elite Szent László Division, they were deployed as emergency troops to plug gaps in the Budapest defence rings. The Regiment suffered heavy losses but was praised in German Army despatches for its aggressive fighting spirit against overwhelming Soviet attacks. Even after the fall of Budapest the paratroopers, who were then incorporated into the elite Szent László Division, fought the Soviets all the way into Austria as they were pushed back, eventually surrendering to the Americans. |
With the Axis Powers ejected from North Africa, the Western Allies look to take the fight to the “soft underbelly” of Europe – Italy. This campaign supplement for Bolt Action focuses on Operation Husky, the airborne and naval invasion of Sicily, the hard-fought battles in the villages and rugged mountain passes of that island, and the advance up the Italian Peninsula towards Rome. With a host of scenarios, new units, special rules & theatre selectors, this new book contains everything players will need to refight these important battles in defence of the Regno d’Italia or to strike at the weak link of Axis Europe to knock Italy out of the war. With units, theatre selectors and scenarios for players of British (Commonwealth), United States, German and, of course, Italian Armies, this is an essential and fascinating campaign volume. |
The KV1/2 plastic box is absolutely crammed packed with the might of mother Russia: Enough plastic components to create one tank body and both complete turret variants (KV-1 turret and KV-2 turret)! A detailed construction booklet. A set of full-colour waterslide decals to allow you to put the finishing touches on your tank. A squad of 8 infantry that double-up as tank riders! A blast, smoke and fire marker to allow that cinematic touch. A stat card for either tank which holds all the information you need for your Bolt Action battles. The KV-1 Heavy Tank The KV-1 is a huge monster of a vehicle weighing at 45 tonnes it was one of Russia's first heavy breed of tanks used within the second world war, it was famed for it's near impregnability. The German anti-tank weaponry of the time had nearly no way of penetrating its armour, only the lack of training and manoeuvrability allowing it to fall foul of superior German tactics. Their size allowed KV-1s to literally crush anything beneath its giant treads, firing lines and encampments were abandoned on the sheer sight of it. The 76.2mm cannon still punched through any of the current German armour, so during 1941, it was nigh-unstoppable. The KV-1 set the example of how a heavy tank could or should be, nearly indestructible and to cause terror in their enemy. Over the following years it did fall out of favour, but it was used as the base for the next generation of heavy tanks. |

Components to make 1 Opel Blitz, or Maultier variant, model. Complete, full colour - building & painting guide. Plastic Seated Infantry Waterslide Decals Clear acetate template for windscreen and side windows Play data cards Smoke & damage markers The Opel Blitz came as a Type S 2 wheel drive and a Type A or "Allrad" that had a 4 x 4 chassis, enabling it to cope with most conditions and provided a superb structure on which were built such conversions as a radio truck (a metal and wood superstructure on the rear that housed radio equipment), Kfz. 385 Tankwagon (a specialized fuel tanker conversion), plus a variety of local workshop produced anti aircraft weapon platforms - mounting everything from the standard Wehrmacht 20mm & 37mm AA to the more feared Quad 20mm Flakvierling 38 AA gun. Perhaps a more famous adaptation was the Opel Maultier "Mule" half-track. Introduced in 1941 following the dire Rasputitsa conditions of the Eastern Front that had brought the entire army to a stand still. This conversion, utilizing the track system of the obsolete Panzer I, gave the German army a very competent all purpose mover and it would see action through out the rest of the war. The new Warlord Games plastic kit features crisp detail in an easy to build format and allows you to build either the standard Opel Blitz truck with canopy up (open or closed at the rear) or down, or the enigmatic Maultier variant. Plus you'll find all those cool extras, such as data cards and vehicle damage markers, to help field either vehicle on your Bolt Action battlefield! Don't forget that you will also have a full-colour building guide and waterslide decals to build either variant! |
Operation Sea Lion Bolt Action Campaign is packed with reverent nods to our favourite wartime films and TV programmes, this action packed, full colour, 124 page, ‘What If?’ Bolt Action Campaign book brings the war to the shores of England. The Year is 1940, and the German invasion of Britain has begun! With this new Campaign book for Bolt Action, players can fight the battles of World War II’s greatest ‘What If’ scenario. Defend the beaches of Kent against waves of German landing craft, parachute into the Home Counties in a surgical strike to capture Winston Churchill, or rally the Home Guard to hold off the invaders! With new rules, scenarios, and unit types covering the unique features of this alternative history campaign, you now have the chance to rewrite the history of World War II. Background to the campaign A successful invasion of a large island with substantial military assets will never be easy; consider the plans for Operation Olympic, the proposed invasion of Japan at the end of World War II – but naval supremacy is undoubtedly a prerequisite. England’s (and later the United Kingdom’s) naval supremacy left the invincible armies of Philip of Spain and Napoleon staring impotently at the storm-tossed, twenty miles of grey sea that separated the island from the continent. Nothing essentially had changed in 1940. But let’s play a game of make believe, a tale of what if. What if somehow, some way, the Germans managed to evade the long reach of the Royal Navy to throw themselves upon the beaches and landing fields of Britain in September 1940? This book is about what happens next... we hope you'll enjoy. John Lambshead Operation Sea Lion Bolt Action Campaign is a 124 page softback book containing: Inside you'll find a complete time line from 1935 to the invasion of Britain in September 1940 and the days that followed. Top notch new units, vehicles, theatre selectors, 'What If' history, the 'Real' history and scenarios with campaign rules... all that's missing is a cup of tea. Discover the weird and wonderful ways the British boffins worked everyday weapons into destructive oddities to defend the home shores - ranging from the Northover projector (the last ever black powder weapon issued to the British army), to the Spigot Mortar - a weapon that ignited Winston Churchill’s ‘boy’s own’ love of the dramatic. We also find out about Winne & Pooh - two 14" guns - and why the Germans dropped a wooden bomb on Pooh! There are of course many, many more weapons, units (roller skates anyone?) & vehicles listed - with models to come hot on the heals of the book (but more about them later...), we just can't wait for the Great Panjandrum - 35 rockets propelling a 10ft wooden wheel at speeds of 60 mph - packed with explosives... just imagine that screaming toward you as you land on the beach! |
