  • Bolt Action Blitzkrieg German Support Group

    Blitzkrieg HQ

German officers were capable and often experienced leaders. Junior officers were trained to undertake the role of their own immediate superiors, enabling them to use their initiative to take control of situations when necessary.

    Blitzkrieg Medium Machine Gun Team

The Germans were equipped with two excellent machine guns in the MG34 and rapid-firing MG42 – known to Allied troops as ‘Hitler’s Buzz Saw’ because of its distinctive noise, or ‘Spandau’. Unlike other armies, the Germans used the same machine gun both as a squad weapon from its bipod and as a tripod-mounted support weapon. The tripod mount provided a much more stable firing platform and made it easier to keep up a sustained fire using a belt feed.

    Blitzkrieg Medium Mortar Team

The standard German medium mortar of the war was the 80mm Granatwerfer 34. It was a very effective and accurate weapon that could provide longer range, on-call fire support. It had a maximum range of 2,400 metres and could maintain a rate of fire of 15–20 rounds per minute.

  • Bolt Action Campaign: Fortress Budapest

Throughout the autumn of 1944, the Axis forces in the Carpathian Basin were fighting for their very existence. Campaign: Fortress Budapest will inspire and guide you through the entirety of this particular conflict and on to many more victories with your Bolt Action forces!

    What is this book?

The Siege of Budapest, the Soviet invasion of Hungary that led up to it, and the desperate German offensives to relieve the city covered kilometres of frontline; these battles lasted eight months and involved hundreds of thousands of combatants. Within the 168 pages of this impressive resource, the authors have squeezed in a variety of very different scenarios for players.

Fortress Budapest is the latest Campaign expansion to Bolt Action Second edition. Whilst there is historical detail within the narrative, this volume is not a history book – it is first and foremost an impressive wargaming supplement. The intention of the author Bryan Cook and the team who put this book together was to provide a good mixture of scenarios, new units, and new rules whilst still giving some historical background for context. Some previously published rules and units have also been reprinted – this is to save players the expense of buying additional books for content which is vital to this volume, but might form only a small part of other books.

    What's in this book:

Packed with history Fortress Budapest contains complete scenarios, additional special rules, army lists, new units and of course the all-important complete theatre selectors.

  • Bolt Action Campaign: Mariana & Palau Islands

This new campaign supplement for Bolt Action allows players to recreate the historic island-hopping battles between US and Imperial Japanese forces in the Pacific theatre that took place in 1944. Even whilst the Allies stormed the beaches of Normandy, US forces were beginning to sweep across the Pacific in their own Blitzkrieg, fighting embittered and ferocious battles across tiny strips of land against tenacious Japanese defenders.

The battles described are concerned with the campaigns of the Mariana and Palau Islands specifically and a number of battles are described in great detail, including those of Saipan, Guam, Peleliu and Anguar. The fighting during these campaigns was controversial and bloody, rivalling the battle of Stalingrad for sheer inhumanity in some instances. Though there were many other battles within these campaigns, their number makes them impossible to describe them all in full within a single volume. The book gives players enough tools to recreate any other battles themselves, should they wish.

A wealth of scenarios are included to represent some of the most important battles and are presented in such a way to form an extended campaign. You’ll find new units for the Japanese and United States (both the US Army and Marines), and all the special rules you need to play; including, crucially, those for amphibious assaults, dug in defenders and tropical hazards amongst many others.

  • Bolt Action Campaign: The Road to Berlin

Bolt Action's next step within its gaming world is exploring the downfall of the Third Reich. Diving through the Eastern front, you'll be able to learn about the very bloody and arduous operations both Germany and the Soviets endured, and the uprising of the Polish AK and Czech forces. With unrelenting leadership and an absurd amount of 'political motivation', the Russians finally managed to expose Nazi Germany after brutal years of fighting.

In June 1944 the Axis powers in Europe were about to be subjected to two major hammer blows. In the West, the final preparations were being made for Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Western Europe. In the East, the Red Army was planning a massive offensive, with bold objectives to critically damage the German Army and eject it entirely from the Soviet Union and, by pushing deep into Poland, providing the springboard for later offensives that would eventually find the Red Army in the streets of Berlin ushering in the final collapse of Hitler’s Third Reich.

For the Germans, a sense of fatalism began to grow, whilst amongst the Soviets, spirits rose. After the months of crushing defeats, encirclements and mass capitulations, the Germans were finally revealed to be beatable and their aura of invincibility had finally been ripped aside. This is well illustrated by a common story from the end of the Stalingrad operations where Soviet troops harassing sullen German prisoners, pointed at the remains of the devastated city and screamed that it would only be a matter of time before Berlin resembled the ruins of Stalingrad.

Contained within in the 148 pages of detailed text, breathtaking imagery and full-colour art, this book also has:

1 x Commando Medium Machine Gun Team
1 x Commando Medium Mortar Team
    HQ

The middle ranks of officers were almost invariably drawn from the upper-middle classes: educated in the public schools, instilled with the values of empire, and imbued with a sense of confidence, duty and resolve that is difficult to conceive of today. An officer unit consists of the man himself and can include up to two other men acting as his immediate attendants.

    FOO

Forward observers are liaison officers responsible for coordinating the attack of heavy artillery batteries from behind the lines or aircraft strikes.

    Medium Machine Gun Team

A .303 Vickers water-cooled machine gun offered fire support to infantry units. This was another weapon of World War I vintage that soldiered on through World War II and beyond, proving extremely effective at laying down continuous fire over a long range. A typical team consisted of a lance corporal gunner, a loader and an ammunition bearer.

    Medium Mortar Team

The 3-inch mortar was used to provide support from up to 3,000 yards dependent upon the projectile used. The 3-inch mortar was operated by a crew of 3.

  • Bolt Action Italy: Soft Underbelly

With the Axis Powers ejected from North Africa, the Western Allies look to take the fight to the “soft underbelly” of Europe – Italy. This campaign supplement for Bolt Action focuses on Operation Husky, the airborne and naval invasion of Sicily, the hard-fought battles in the villages and rugged mountain passes of that island, and the advance up the Italian Peninsula towards Rome. With a host of scenarios, new units, special rules & theatre selectors, this new book contains everything players will need to refight these important battles in defence of the Regno d’Italia or to strike at the weak link of Axis Europe to knock Italy out of the war.

With units, theatre selectors and scenarios for players of British (Commonwealth), United States, German and, of course, Italian Armies, this is an essential and fascinating campaign volume.

  • Bolt Action Japanese Type 1 47mm Anti Tank Gun

The Type 1 47mm AT gun was developed following the Japanese encounter with Russian armour and was the first indigenously developed dedicated anti-tank gun. It lacked the performance of other contemporary weapons of similar calibre, but was deemed sufficiently capable against lightly armoured tanks.

By the time it was introduced in 1942, it was therefore already outdated. The same gun was used as the main armament of the Type 97 Chi-Ha Shinhoto tank. It was also used by Japanese paratroops – dropped disassembled in separate containers.

  • Bolt Action Luftwaffe Field Division 88mm Flak 37

Originally developed as an anti-aircraft weapon, the Flak 37 8.8cm (or Eighty-eight as it became known by Allied troops) had a high muzzle velocity to allow it to reach the higher ranges modern bombers were capable of at the time. This would make it an exceptionally deadly anti-tank weapon as many Allied tank crews would learn to their peril. The 88 could also be deployed as a conventional artillery piece – as one infantryman noted, the 88 was 'anti-everything'...

Capable of firing in extremis whilst still attached to its wheeled carriages (although with limited traverse or elevation), the 88 could be fully deployed onto its cruciform firing platform and ready to fire in around two and a half minutes.

Many 88s were fitted with a large gunshield although there were many examples of this being dispensed with. Being such a large and heavy weapon it could only be towed by larger prime movers such as the Sd.Kfz 7 halftrack.

The 88 saw service during the Spanish Civil War as well as on all fronts in which the Germans fought during WWII. Capable of penetrating armour plate up to 108mm thick at ranges of up to 1,100 yards, the 88’s fearsome reputation grew immensely during its service in the Western Desert where it was one of the very few weapons capable of dealing with the British Matilda II infantry tanks. A similar scenario unfolded on the Eastern Front as the 88 was among the rare weapons able to tackle the new Soviet heavy KV tanks.

The Flak 37 was the final production iteration of the 88, almost identical to the Flak 36 bar the updated instruments allowing for a greater level of autonomy in fire control.

This Flak 37 kit is supplied with 8.8cm shells and shell cases and can be built to both traverse and elevate - neither enemy armour nor aircraft will be safe!

  • Bolt Action Soviet Airborne Squad

The Soviets were visionaries in the development of airborne troops and tactics, first forming a brigade-sized airborne unit after successful trials in December 1932. More units followed and by June 1941 five Airborne Corps existed in the Soviet order of battle, undoubtedly the strongest airborne force in the world. However in the desperate fighting of the early campaign these formations were pressed into service as regular infantry and virtually consumed.

Airborne troops were finally dropped in battalion strength during the defence of Moscow during December 1941 and January 1942. An entire corps (the 4th) was dropped operationally in February 1942 but while it survived for six months in the German rear, it failed to achieve its objectives. The crisis at Stalingrad then pulled in all available airborne troops to fight as regular infantry again.

Soviet airborne troops always fought with tremendous courage and elan, but lacked heavy anti-tank weapons and were badly supported in every operation they attempted.

Contains 10 metal Soviet Airborne figures:

  • Bolt Action Soviet Army Anti-Tank Teams

The armies of the Soviet Union had many weapons at their disposal to counteract the threat of German armoured formations - from orthodox anti-tank rifles, oddball 'Molotov Cocktail' throwers and the unconventional use of dogs as living anti-tank mines.

Whilst most nations were finding the anti-tank rifle underpowered against the latest armoured vehicles the Soviet continued to field them in large numbers even though to be truly effective they would need to be fired at a dangerously close range. The Ampulomet was a strange mortar-like device which threw a glass ball containing a mix of phosphorus and sulphur up to 400 yards albeit inaccurately.

Possibly the most unusual and controversial of anti-tank weapons are the 'dog mines'. Fitted with a simple lever which would trigger the carried charge when the dog sought refuge under enemy tanks or vehicles. Many animals simply ran from the noise and smells of battle whilst others bolted for the safety of Soviet machines or trenches. The Germans were sufficiently startled to shoot all dogs on sight - Dog Mine teams are credited with destroying a number of German tanks at the battle of Kursk.

Contains the following metal Soviet figures:

  • Bolt Action Soviet Assault Engineers Squad

Shortages meant that Soviet formations were sparsely served when it came to transport and rear-echelon support. Pioneer detachments were a notable exception. Their expertise was too essential to do without: bridge-building, demolitions, fortification construction and minefield placement and clearance. These all required skills the conscripted masses did not have. Assault engineers were specialists tasked with liquidating enemy strongpoints during an advance and clearing obstacles to allow tank units to breakthrough. This was extremely dangerous work with a high casualty rate (even by Red Army standards) and assault engineer units were sometimes equipped with SN-42 body armour to give them a fighting chance. Models supplied unassembled and unpainted. 10 Infantry sized models supplied.

  • Bolt Action Soviet People's Militia Squad

‘Popular regimentation’ or the ‘people’s militia’ (Narodnoe Opolcheniye or Opolchenie) is a Russian tradition dating back to the 16th century and a powerful part of the national heritage. In times of emergency, a militia was selected from volunteers to serve alongside the regular army and defend their homes.

In the dark days of 1941-42, workers and citizens in Leningrad, Moscow, Rostov, Stalingrad and other major Soviet cities organized into militias and quickly found themselves on the front lines as the fascist invaders swept east. People’s militia squads were even more poorly trained and equipped than the average Red Army squad, but they fought on with tragic bravery.

The figures in this set represent one of the many militias that took the war to the Fascist invaders but are also ideal to be used as Soviet Partisans.

Veterans are formed from the ferocity of war - these battle-hardened men are always ready to lay their lives for Mother Russia. Given the finest gear the land can offer, these veterans took the fight to the front to protect their homeland from the invaders.

If the Soviet army was not on the whole an elite fighting force, it certainly included its fair share of battle-hardened veterans. It was not uncommon for squads of hand-picked, decorated men to be assigned to particularly important objectives or critical areas where their greater experience would have the most impact.

These solid infantry will form a very themed backbone for your force. Being equiped either with a submachine gun or use their normal rifle, you can create multiple squads for all scenarios.

  • Bolt Action: Belgian Army Weapons Teams

Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, light mortar teams and anti-tank rfile teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome.

The Belgian Army was armed with the Lance DBT 50mm Light Mortar. Similar in design and the same caliber as the Japanese knee mortar, this weapon provided Belgian platoons with close infantry support and was capable of firing 20 rounds per minute.

The Belgian sniper carried and operated the Fusil Mle 1935 rifle. Firing a 7.56mm round and with a scope attached, this rifle was lethal in the hands of a marksman.

The British-made Boys anti-tank rifle was supplied to the French and Belgian armies as the Le Fusil Antichar Boys Mark I. The Boys was an effective anti-tank rifle against early German tanks.

  • Bolt Action: German Heer 8.8cm Flak 37 (Winter)

Originally developed as an anti-aircraft weapon, the infamous ‘eighty-eight’ or ‘88’, as it became known by Allied troops, had a high muzzle velocity, allowing it to reach the higher ranges bombers were capable of. This feature also made it an exceptionally deadly anti-tank weapon, as many Allied tank crews learned to their peril. As such, the 88 was also deployed as a conventional artillery piece. As one infantryman noted, the 88 was “anti-everything”...

The 88 saw service on all fronts in which the Germans fought during WWII. Capable of penetrating armour plate up to 108mm thick at ranges of up to 1,100 yards, the 88’s fearsome reputation grew immensely during its service in the Western Desert where it was one of the very few weapons capable of dealing with the British Matilda II infantry tanks. A similar scenario unfolded on the Eastern Front as the 88 was among the rare weapons able to tackle the Soviet T-34 and KV tanks.

Contains one plastic Flak 37, seven metal German Heer (Winter) crew figures, MDF base and game accessories.

    Models supplied unassembled and unpainted

  • Bolt Action: Isuzu Type 98 AA machine cannon carrier

The Isuzu Type 98 AA Machine Gun Carriers married a Type 98 20mm automatic cannon with the back of a Type 94 or (later) a Type 96 six-wheeled truck. The Type 98 20mm autocannon was the most common light anti-aircraft gun of the Imperial Japanese Army, with a range of 5,500 metres, and could fire up to 300 rounds a minute. These self-propelled anti-aircraft guns were not mass-produced, the few that saw service were deployed in the air defence units of Japanese tank divisions.

The Type 98 AA truck provides a Japanese force with its sole dedicated anti-aircraft option. It is armed with a platform-mounted light automatic cannon with the Flak special rule, but is equally deadly if turned upon ground-based infantry or lighter vehicles!

Box contains one resin & metal Type 98 AA Machine Gun Carrier, decal sheet, and vehicle damage markers.

  • Bolt Action: Italian Alpini Mountain Troops

Known as Le Penne Nere (the black feathers), after the distinctive raven feather in their headgear, the Alpini are the Italian Army’s elite specialists in mountain warfare. Created by Royal decree no. 1056 in 1872, they are the oldest mountain specialists in the world.

In 1935, the Italian fascist government under Mussolini reorganised the Alpini into six divisions and sent three of them to fight on the Eastern Front alongside the Germans against the Soviet Union. However, the Germans deployed these elite troops (trained and equipped for mountain combat against infantry) along the flat plains of the Don River facing tanks. Despite this, the tenacious Alpini were able to escape encirclement and survive.

During the war, Italian Alpini divisions saw combat in Albania, France, Greece and Yugoslavia, as well as in the Soviet Union and even as far afield as East Africa. After the armistice in 1943, the 3rd Alpini Division joined the Allied cause while the 4th Alpini Division continued to fight alongside Germany.

    Contains:

Enough plastic components to make 30 Alpini miniatures.
Includes a host of options to allow for different weapon configurations and command models.
Options for M33 steel helmets or alpine caps.

  • Bolt Action: Italian Army Support Group

One of the largest ground forces of the war, the Regio Esercito (Royal Italian Army) was hardened by its experiences in Albania, Ethiopia and the Spanish Civil War prior to its entry to the Second World War.

The Italian Army fielded a wide range of weapons from various manufacturers. The most successful and commonly used machine gun was the Breda M37 8mm air-cooled weapon, its reputation led to it being fielded by the British SAS when captured.

Like so many nations, the Italian Army made good use of mortars such as the Mortaio da 81/14 Modello 35 which was nearly identical to the 81mm mortar fielded by the United States.

Build a force of the Emperor’s fanatically loyal troops and campaign through some of the most brutal battles of WWII.

The Imperial Japanese Army would call upon nearly five and a half million men across World War Two. Though many would be conscripts, they would be well-trained, highly motivated, and highly disciplined. • Bolt Action: Korea Supplement

Fought between 1950 and 1953, the Korean War was one of the first major conflicts of the Cold War. Backed by the Soviet Union and Communist China, the North Korean regime battled for control of the peninsula against the South Korean government and a 21-country UN task force.

The Korean War is unique and interesting in the annals of world and military history in its own right. An aspect rarely discussed is the cultural implications of so many Western, non-Western and European nations fighting against combatants from the Orient. Due to the vast cultural diversity of so many nations fighting in such a geographically small area, cultural differences would have a significant impact on how the combatants treated each other on the field of battle. These differences went beyond simple language barriers, they included problems in logistics, religion, personnel replacements and the method in which war was conducted.

Inside the book, you'll find a comprehensive history of the conflict with details of every major battle fought between the two sides. It also includes details of the various forces and their organisation, commanders, and equipment. Scenarios are provided for many of the battles, along with comprehensive force selectors to help you assemble your force.

A copy of the Bolt Action 2nd Edition rules is needed to use this supplement.

  • Bolt Action: North Korean SMG Squad

The forces of the KPA were vast, incorporating between 150,000 – 200,000 personnel, divided into 10 Infantry divisions, 1 Tank division, and 1 Air Force division. Although North Korean conscription was in effect before the outbreak of war, many young men were encouraged or pressed into service by their own families for the promise of financial reward.

At the outbreak of the Korea war in 1950, the KPA were better prepared in every way for the coming conflict. Not only were they better trained and more favourably equipped, but earlier guerilla warfare in South Korea had also left ROKA forces little time to re-establish a strong military presence. As such, the initial attacks on June 25, 1950, were highly effective.

The KPA foot soldier has long been celebrated for his ability to endure the worst the enemy, the harsh Korean climate, and the hardships his own superiors can throw at him. Modelled on the mechanized Soviet Army, sporting armaments supplied by Stalin and bolstered by veterans released from China, the KPA forces were considerably larger and more dangerous than the UN anticipated.

    KPA LMG Squad

The basic KPA infantry squad consisted of ten men led by a sergeant and a junior sergeant (equivalent to a Corporal). Each squad included a light machine gun and required a second man to act as a loader. Dedicated submachine gun armed companies were formed in the KPA at a regimental level. The primary purpose of the submachine gun company was to serve as the recon company for the infantry regiment. Each soldier is armed with the PPSh 41.

The Panzer Lehr Division (armoured training division) was built in 1943 from the veterans of the North Africa, Sicily and Italy campaigns. These highly experienced troops formed the core of this training and demonstration unit and as such was considered an elite formation from its inception.

In 1944, the Panzer Lehr Division took part in the invasion of Hungary before moving to France to await the Allied invasion of Europe. Unlike other panzer divisions of the German wehrmacht, all the panzergrenadiers of the Panzer Lehr were mounted on half-tracks, making it the only fully mechanised unit in the German army. In addition, they were the first to fight alongside the new Tiger II tanks. They also wore a distinctive double-breasted assault gun-style jacket instead of the normal Heer field blouse.

  • Bolt Action: Stalingrad Campaign Book

This campaign book seeks to help wargamers recreate the incredible struggles between the German Wehrmacht and the Soviet Red Army for control of the region between the Don and Volga rivers – ultimately centring on the city of Stalingrad.

This six-month-long battle saw some of the fiercest fighting of the war, with each side losing hundreds of thousands of men and culminating in the encirclement and eventual destruction of the German Sixth Army.

While this book provides a historical overview of the Stalingrad campaign, its primary purpose is to provide new scenarios, rules, and inspiration to help wargamers bring this bitter struggle to life on the tabletop.

  • Bolt Action: Type 91 So-Mo armoured car

Also referred to as the Type 91 broad-gauge railroad tractor, the So-Mo has the unusual distinction of being able to quickly switch from road to rail. The So-Mo could achieve speeds of around 25 miles per hour on roads and almost twice that on railroads. Fielded by both the Imperial Japanese Army and the SNLF during World War II, the six-wheel-drive So-Mo also served in the 1937 Japanese invasion of China. The vehicle did not have integral weapons, but the crew often carried a 7.7mm machine gun that was fired through the observation ports in the turret.

Despite its light LMG armament, the So-Mo provides a relatively inexpensive armoured car for a Japanese force, which has the dual benefit of being able to transport six infantrymen across the battlefield. It is particularly useful if the battlefield contains any railroads!

  • Bolt Action: Type 97 Isuzu truck

The Japanese Light Truck Type 97 was based on the Isuzu truck TX40, sharing parts common to the Type 94 Truck. The Type 97 could be found in almost all areas of the Pacific war as a principal truck for the IJA until the end of the war.

Japanese trucks were inclined to be narrow to suit local roads and had high ground clearance to cope with uneven surfaces. They tended to be quite heavy compared to British equivalents and some were almost exact copies of the 1939 Chevrolet.

In Bolt Action, the Type 97 counts as a Light Truck, an inexpensive and reliable way to transport up to 8 men across the tabletop, or tow lighter artillery pieces.

  • Bolt Action: USMC Support Group

Few fighting forces rival the hard-won reputation of the US Marine Corps. Showing their mettle during the island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific, and then to pushing the enemy back to their homeland, the US Marine had few equals in WWII. Facing the deadly combination of the fanatical Japanese enemy and the sweltering jungle conditions in which they fought, the US Marine Corps triumphed in actions which have become legendary – Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Peleliu, Iwo Jima and more.

Within the claustrophobic confines of the hills and jungle environment over which they fought, the marines were reliant more on support weapons than on tanks. Medium machine guns like the M1917 and the 81mm medium mortar were vital to their success.

  • British Infantry Regiment

The British Redcoat of the Revolutionary War was part of a small but well-trained army, stretched all over the emerging Empire. Most of England’s gold went into maintaining a giant and hugely effective Royal Navy to dominate the seas.

The infantry quickly learned many lessons in fighting the French Indian wars, and after initial setbacks proved more than capable of taking on and defeating far larger enemy forces. Devastating firepower and a grim determination to close with the bayonet made the Redcoat in America a dangerous foe indeed.

The British quickly adopted a looser fighting order and the reaped the benefits of using Light and Grenadier companies for specialist assault work. “March on, and God save the King!”

  • Crimean War British Foot Guards Command

In an exception to the convention of the time of the Crimean War that a British infantry regiment would consist of only a single battalion, the Foot Guards each paraded more than one; the Grenadier Guards had three, the Coldstream Guards two, and the Scots Fusilier Guards two.

Inkerman is an iconic battle for the Foot Guards as they held an isolated position unsupported against overwhelming odds. The Grenadiers were the only regiment to take their colours into the battle and as a result they became a focal point for the battalion, giving it not only a place to rally, but also a place to defend, as the men did not want to lose the colours of Queen Victoria’s premier Foot Guard regiment. During the defence of the colours, Grenadier Captain Percy won the Victoria Cross. To commemorate the battle, one of the Grenadier Guards companies carries the honour ‘Inkerman Company’ as does a company at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.

  • Crimean War British Generals & Officers

The failure of the British army from a wargaming perspective is not in its men, but in its leaders. The generals, with a couple of notable exceptions, were not experienced in warfare and beyond issuing initial orders usually played little part in the battle. Failure to issue orders or to effectively communicate them to the divisional or brigade commanders often left brigades paralysed whilst they awaited instructions. Additionally, a genuine loathing of one another, and some generals’ preference for elevating officers for their social standing, rather than command capability, exacerbated such problems.

This pack contains three of the most famous personalities in command of British forces during the Crimean War, cast in metal:

During the campaign, the Rifle Brigade began to wear the softer forage cap in place of the more traditional shako.

  • Crimean War Cossack Artillery and Crew

The artillery was the premier arm of the Russian military. The artillery was seen to be, in many ways, the battle winner and large numbers of guns were deployed to every battle in the Crimean theatre. Massed artillery fire had been a central tenet of Russian military doctrine since Napoleonic times with the cannon expected to make up for the lack of infantry firepower. In theory, the cannon should soften up the enemy before the infantry charge them and drive them from the field. However, during the Crimean War, the rifled muskets used by the allies often outranged the Russian cannon.

Russian Artillery has a somewhat conspicuous place in history, with the eight guns of No. 3 Don Cossack Battery being the key objective in the ill-fated Charge of the Light Brigade. This model can be used to represent one such gun, a 6-pdr.

This pack contains one Cossack Artillery piece with four crew, cast in metal.
