  • Armoured Samnites Victrix

Armoured Samnites Victrix contains 24 figures including arm options to create command figures.

The Samnites were a tribal group of the Oscan peoples that occupied Central and Southern Italy. They were fierce warriors and in their many wars with Rome they earned a high military reputation.

  • Balearic Slingers

High quality 28mm miniatures. The sling had been a popular weapon throughout ancient history but it was the Balearic slinger the presented the zenith of the use of the sling as an effective weapon of war. It is said that the slingers from the Balearic weapons had been proficient with the sling for many years using it both in warfare and hunting. With the onset of the Punic Wars there was much opportunity for these slingers to hire themselves out as mercenaries and thus much emphasis was put into training with the sling. It is said that a good slinger could propel his missile up to 400 metres, this being greater then the bow and arrow.

Although ammunition in the form of stones could be found readily many slingers favoured lead missiles due the their smaller size and the fact they were very difficult for the enemy to see with the naked eye. Some missiles would be cast from lead and feature fins that would aid flight and trajectory.

Balearic slingers were used extensively throughout the Punic Wars and would feature in the armies of Rome and Carthage.

  • British Peninsular Heavy Dragoons

    12 x British Peninsular Dragoons

This uniform was in use up to 1812 but probably carried on into 1813 due to sporadic supply issues with all armies during the Napoleonic wars (regulations and actual practice are very different even in today’s armies)

The differences in this uniform are the shoulder wings and horizontal bars of lace across the chest. They do not have the striped girdle under the sword belt and the cuffs are different. We have done two sets of arms for this set to represent the British regiments and the Kings German Legion (they have a pointed cuff with chevrons of lace above it)

We have also included two options for the sword scabbard by itself or sword scabbard and sabretache. The sabretache was issued in 1812 to the heavy cavalry but again probably took a while to get to the troops, but is there for completeness. The officer has a choice of bicorn or cylindrical shako with cords.

  • Dacians

This set includes 60 high quality 28mm miniatures.
The Dacians were a Warlike people living in and around the Carpathian mountains. The Greeks called them the Getae.

The main Dacian warrior type was armed with a spear and shield and maybe a sword or knife. They also used quite a lot of archers but the main weapon feared by the Romans was the dreaded Falx. A two handed scythe type weapon, capable of taking off a mans arm in one blow or piecing the top of helmets as it came down over the Roman shield. The Dacians were very good craftsman and metal smiths and so nobles would wear armour of mail or scales and elaborate helmets. Quite a bit of captured Roman equipment would be used also.

  • Early Imperial Roman Bolt-Shooter

    4 x Early Imperial Roman Bolt-shooters.

Every Roman Centuria within a Legion was equipped with a Light Bolt shooter (either Scorpion or Manuballista) These were manned by regular Legionaries and used in the field or defensively from forts or during sieges. They were capable of hurling a large dart or bolt at much longer ranges than the typical bow and added some devastating long range, heavy hitting firepower to any Roman Legion.

There is a useful image on Trajan’s column depicting this Bolt-shooter with cylindrical drums laying siege to a Dacian hillfort.

You get a lot of bits to really customise each figure and make your bolt-shooter bases look ready for business.

    What you get

4 x Bolt shooters and the option of extended slider and drawn back slider ready to shoot.
4 x barrels and lots of loose bolts to fill the barrels.
    8 x defensive stakes

  • Early Saxon Armoured Warriors

These figures represent the Upper class Early Saxons, Jutes, Angles and Danes (all grouped together under the title Saxon) that invaded Britain (or possibly this was more of a migration?) during the 4th to 6th centuries.

There is a real mix of head options and various helmet styles.

Fur cloak options have been added for some extra character. Weapons include swords, spears, javelins, hand axes and some Angons with the metal socketed spearheads.

As well as fighting the Late Romans, they were also hired by the Romans fighting as mercenaries. They fought the Romano British for dominance of Britain for hundreds of years, forcing the original inhabitants of Britain West and North.

Early Saxons tended to use a smaller round shield for parrying and punching with. They would deliver a charge, hurling javelins as they ran towards the enemy and closed with spear, sword, axe or Seax. Shield wall tactics started to come in later. We have included small bucklers but also larger round shields so customers can field whichever style they prefer.

  • French Napoleonic Dragoons 1807-1812

The French Dragoons are a truly dynamic set which convey the ferocity of cavalry going into action, waving or levelling their sabres for the charge.

These Dragoons have been done in the pre-Bardin regulation uniform which has the long tailed coat. This was supposed to have been replaced by the short tailed jacket in 1812 but many continued to wear the long tails well into 1813. These miniatures can easily be used for the invasion of Russia in 1812 and the battle of Leipzig in 1813.
