The Arachnarok Spiders are lumbering monsters of chitin and dripping fangs. They crawl forth from bone-filled pits, over the accumulated corpse mounds of the Grots’ offerings, ravaging any army they are sent against. Blades, bolts and bullets are turned from their thick hides as their legs spear warriors, driving them into the ground before the Arachnaroks sink gigantic fangs into them. On the Arachnaroks’ backs, the Spiderfang Grots mount crude howdahs. These are sometimes used to carry catapults that fling spider-filled webs at their enemies, and often serve as platforms for their wizards to unleash their stinging green sorcery. This multi-part plastic kit contains 86 components with which to make your Arachnarok Spider truly unique, including a flinger and a catchweb spidershrine. There are also eight Spiderfang Grot crew for the howdah, many tiny spiders to adorn the base and a Spiderfang Shaman. The Arachnarok Spider stands atop a Citadel 160mm Round base. |
Join our esteemed guest editor Jacques O’Lanterne as we dig in to what makes Necromantic Horror teams tick. You’ll thrill to hear how Necromancers put together their teams (literally, in the case of Flesh Golems), as well as the sordid history of some infamous Sylvanian teams. The 36 pages of this dusty tome are stuffed with all manner of dark humour, rules to raise your team (from the grave), and advice to guide them to victory. As the first Spike! Journal to be published after the new edition of Blood Bowl, the content has been adjusted ever so slightly, but it will feel quite familiar to long-time sports fans. It includes: - Things That Go Bump in the Night: covers where Necromantic Horror teams arise from, as well as an overview of each position – Zombie Linemen, Ghoul Runners, Wraiths, Werewolves, and Flesh Golems. - Famous Necromantic Horror teams, including the Wolfenburg Crypt-stealers, Bruendar Grimjacks, and Pumpkin Patch Petrifiers, plus full profiles for the Star Players that can be hired. - Star Player Spotlight: Frank ’n’ Stein – the Flesh Golem that combined the brains and brawn of two decent players to become something greater than the sum of his parts. - Dirt From the Dugout: Mindy Piewhistle returns with the graveyard dirt on rumours of a Star Player's potential retirement – could he have a life after the gridiron? - Star Player Spotlight: Wilhelm ‘the Wolfman’ Chaney – growing up as an outcast from Human society has made Wilhelm a somewhat eccentric personality, but his savagery in the field more than make up for it. - Sylvanian Night-time Leagues: Custom rules for running a league season as the Spooky Skull Cup, as well as special rules to represent games played in Sylvania. - Chat with the Rat: Hackspit sits down with the coach of the Bruendar Grimjacks about scouting and recruiting new players for Necromantic Horror teams. - Trick or Treat: the pro playbook for new Necromantic Horror coaches, including advice on raising a solid roster, developing their skills, and running effective plays. - Star Player Spotlight: Bryce ‘the Slice’ Cambuel – after a premature and self-inflicted end to his career as a living player, this chainsaw-wielding Blocker was revived to give it another go in the afterlife. - Eerie Inducements: hire some of the unsavoury characters that abound in these dark and dismal lands. - A new episode of Mighty Blow! |
The exceptionally fierce Terrence "the Butcher" Iansson wipes the blood off his hands just long enough to guest edit this issue of Spike! Journal packed with eightfold treats. That's right, it's a Khorne special, focusing on those who play to appease the god of skulls. Featuring 36 crimson-hued pages, this magazine covers the history, rules, and rosters of the Khorne team. Alongside all the tales of violence, violence, and more violence, you'll find the fantastic fun and essential commentary you've come to expect from Spike! Journal. As such, this magazine is the perfect companion for the savvy (and bloodthirsty) coach. It includes: - Blood for the Blood God: delve into the background and history of Khorne teams, the various player positions, Star Players, and a team roster. - Famous Khorne Teams: what do Khorne's Killers, The Bloodsoaked Bruisers, The Flesh Hounds, and The Khornate Cripplers all have in common? They all donated an overwhelming number of skulls to Khorne this season, and they feature in this section covering the many teams that play for blood. - The Skull-tribe Slaughterers Team Spotlight: a special in-depth article focusing on one of the few Khorne teams to reach the epiphany that winning games means more chances to claim better quality skulls. Includes a team profile featuring team colours, honours, Spike! team rating as well as the roster of their famous 2497-2498 squad, and loads more. - Star Player Spotlight – Grashnak Blackhoof: a renowned Blitzer known as "The Great Black Bull" often considered one of the most violent players to ever grace the gridiron. - Chat With the Rat: everyone's favour-best rat Hackspit Quillchewer takes the time to talk to the owner of the Khornate Cripplers, Overlord Kolgan Bloodrage, about their storied rivalry with the Slaaneshi Sidewinders. - Star Player Spotlight – Scyla Anfingrimm: a wrecking ball of muscle on the pitch, Scyla's unique brand of violence has given him heaps of adoring fans and sponsorship deals despite no one knowing where he came from. - Chaos Leagues: all-new rules and advice to help you run Chaos Leagues – a variant on the standard Blood Bowl League Season. The Cursed Skull Goblet is open to all teams, however each team participating must select one of the four Chaos Gods or Chaos Undivided as their patron. Includes rules such as a Wrath of Khorne Weather Table, Khornate Kick-off Table, unique post-game sequences, and special rules for the Altar of Khorne Blood Bowl Pitch and Khornate balls. - Dirt From the Dugout: Mindy Piewhistle delivers another steaming hot pile of gossip, this time focussing on the underhanded means the Crimson Butchers have been using to convert rival fans into Khorne worshippers. - Eviscerate and Exsanguinate: this is your guide to getting the most out of your skull-loving Marauders. Includes an overview of the strengths of the Khorne team (violence) positions, tactics (enacting violence), how to start out, and how to develop your team over a league, as well as examples of offensive and defensive set-ups. Surprising no one, Khorne teams prefer offence. - Star Player Spotlight – Max Spleenripper: innovative and skilled with a chainsaw, Max has become a must-have player in Khorne teams and a household name. Find out how he earned the name 'Spleenripper' right here. - Ask Lord Borak: curious Blood Bowl fans have their questions answered by the fearsome Lord Borak. - Coffin Corner: plenty of players have lost their heads over the years, pleasing Khorne greatly. This regular column remembers those who died, willingly or not, in tribute to the Blood God. - Mighty Blow! – New Brawls Please: this comic takes a look back at one of Bob Bifford's games against a Khorne team. |

The Spiterider Lancers are Alarielle's elite cavalry, mounted upon agile Dragonspites whose bodies thrum with the energies of Life. Taming one of these ancient insectoid predators is a quest in itself – their forest spirit riders deftly swoop and whirl above the battlefield before suddenly diving into a charge, striking the enemy lines with shocking force. The enemies of the Everqueen are left with nowhere to hide when the Spiterider Lancers are unleashed from the vales. This multipart plastic kit builds three Spiterider Lancers, forest spirits mounted atop insectoid dragonspites. Wearing knightly horned helms and armed with long magical spears, these elite cavalry fighters can soar across massive distances into a devastating charge, and are infused with vital energies that allow them to repair all but the most grievous wounds. One Spiterider Lancer can be assembled as a Spiterider Scion unit leader, another as a Banner Bearer, and another as a Hornblower. The kit includes a variety of shield designs, heads, and different ways to assemble each dragonspite, as well as a choice of two different instruments for your Hornblower, so no two units need look the same. This set can alternatively be assembled as Revenant Seekers. This kit comprises 82 plastic components, and is supplied with 3x Citadel Flying Stems with 60mm Flying Bases. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and requires assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints. |
