Among them was the C8 AT converted to tow the 17 pdr anti-tank gun and the C9/B self-propelled Bofors anti-aircraft gun. The C9/B mounted the 40mm Bofors gun on an elongated C8 chassis. It, and the very similar Canadian built Ford F60B, became the most prolific of all British AA vehicles, becoming the standard equipment in all theatres of war from 1943 onwards.

  • British Sherman Firefly IC

includes on Firefly IC tank, one plastic Sherman Component sprue & one Tank Commander.

The Firefly was arguably the best variant of the Sherman to see service during the Second World War. Armed with the legendary 17 pdr gun, it gave the British and Commonwealth tankers the ability to knock-out even the most formidable tanks available to the Wehrmacht.

The original Firefly VC was a conversion of the M4A4 Sherman, or Sherman V (the British designation for the M4A4); the C was the British designation for a tank armed with a 17 pdr gun. But with M4A4 production halting in 1943, the M4 Sherman or Sherman I was chosen to supplement the dwindling stocks of Firefly VCs.

As the war went on, the Firefly IC began to overtake the VC as the most numerous version the up-gunned Sherman.

  • British Sherman Firefly Vc

The Sherman Firefly Vc was arguably the best combat version of the Sherman. Armed with the excellent 17 pdr gun it gave the British and Commonwealth armoured forces the ability to destroy even the heaviest German tanks. Originally built as a temporary alternative to the Challenger (an up-gunned Cromwell), it was so successful that it overtook the troubled Challenger design as the main British tank armed with the 17 pdr.

  • British Sherman V Armoured Platoon (Plastic)

During 1942-43 the standard size of an Armoured platoon was three tanks and had served the British well. However, it became clearer as the war progressed that the standard 75mm gun of the Sherman would not be powerful enough to deal with the ever-increasing amounts of armour the German were applying to their tanks. Already in service in 1943 was the excellent 17 pdr anti-tank gun and it was decided to mount this in a Sherman turret. After some trial and error a mounting was affected and the new 17 pdr armed Sherman was dubbed the Firefly, which was then issued to the armoured divisions. Most formations issued them to the Armoured Troops as an extra tank, thus bringing the strength of a troop up to three Shermans and a Firefly.

  • British Staghound I / AA

The first Staghound rolled off the production line at Chevrolet's factory in October 1942 but by the year's end under two hundred had been completed. At this time the United States Special Armoured Vehicle Board decided that the United States Army didn't need an armoured car of the size of the Staghound and decided to adopt the lighter M8 Greyhound vehicle instead. All production went to Britain and a total of 2,687 vehicles were produced and delivered by the end of December 1943. A thousand anti-aircraft versions of the staghound were also requested but only 789 were delivered by the time production was stoped in April 1944.

  • British Universal Carrier

This Flames of War pack comes with everything you need to assemble a platoon of 3 Universal Carriers with all the variant parts.

The Universal Carrier is the name give to the collection of vehicles that faithfully served with the British and Commonwealth armies in every theatre during the course of the Second World War. It even found its way into the Red Army as part of the Lend-Lease program.

The Universal Carrier proved to be a very versatile vehicle; able to transport troops and supplies in addition to weapons such as machine-guns or mortars. The driver and commander sat in the front of the vehicle with the driver of the right hand side; the commander manned the weapon, commonly a Bren gun mounted slightly forward of the driving position.

Powered by an engine placed in the centre of the vehicle, steering was provided by the combination of small movements made on a steering wheel. This turned the front road wheels slightly to enable the vehicle to drift in that direction. Turning the steering wheel to a greater degree would brake the tracks and turn the vehicle more sharply in the appropriate direction.

Several different types of the carrier existed, each design differing slightly to accommodate weapons such as a medium machine-gun or mortars and even a flamethrower. The Universal Carrier also proved useful in towing guns such as the 6 pdr anti-tank gun.

Fox, Scorpion and Scimitar recon vehicles skirmished with the Soviet forward detachments as the Challenger and Chieftain armoured regiments waited. The infantry held the towns and woods, forcing the enemy into killing zones, new Warrior infantry fighting vehicles in fire support. • Desert Rats Command Cards (FW241C)

Desert Rats Command Cards (FW241C) Contains 36 cards to enhance your force, field iconic warriors and cutomise your units.

Command Cards provide Flames Of War generals with a way to further personalise and enhance their forces. These optional cards include a range of options that can enhance or change your gaming experience by adding new Formations, Upgrades and Warriors, giving you even more choice when building your force.

Many Command cards are hidden until they are used, so you’re never quite sure what your opponent’s battle plans are until they are revealed. While hidden, Command cards do not affect their attached unit—a player must reveal them if they wish to gain the benefits of the card. Some Command cards must be revealed at the start of the game; these cards are used to build your army and have the keyword 'Build'.

Command cards can be added to your force in two ways. You can add them to your normal point cost, just as you would add a Unit to your force, or you and your opponent can agree on a set amount of points that each may use just to add Command cards to their lists.
