United States M4A3 (105mm) Sherman

In November 1942 two M4A4 Shermans were modified to carry the 105mm Howitzer for close support work. In 1943 the design was standardised and M4 and M4A3 versions were put into production. The M4A3 (105mm) was used in headquarters units to provide fire support as well as grouped together in Assault Gun Platoons of three vehicles where their massed fire power could be used for effective bombardments.

United States M5 3 Inch Anti-Tank Gun

The 3 inch Gun M5 was an anti-tank gun developed in the United States during World War II using a barrel of the 3-inch anti-aircraft gun T9 and elements of the 105 mm Howitzer M2. The gun was issued exclusively to the United States Army tank destroyer battalions, beginning in 1943. While the M5 outperformed earlier anti-tank guns in US service, its effective employment was hindered by its heavy weight and ammunition related issues. Losses suffered by towed tank destroyer battalions in the Battle of the Bulge and the existence of more mobile, better protected alternatives in the form of self-propelled tank destroyers led to gradual removal of the M5 from frontline service in 1945.

The 105mm Howitzer Motor Carriage M7 was an American self-propelled artillery vehicle given the official nickname Priest in British service due to the pulpit-like machine gun ring and following on the ecclesiastical nomenclature from the Bishop self propelled gun. The Priest's 105mm howitzer had enough hitting power to destroy any target and was used in United States Armored Divisions' mobile artillery batteries. Each US Armored Division had three battalions of M7s, giving them unparalleled mobile artillery support. A total of 3,490 M7s were built and they proved to be reliable weapons, continuing to see service in the United States and allied armies well past World War II.

United States SMG Platoon 2nd Indianhead Division

The 2nd Infantry Division received a number of Thompson submachine-guns as an experiment to test their worth in city fighting. The submachine-guns were given out to companies which were free to use them as they saw fit. Some companies equipped all of their rifle platoons with Thompsons, while others were a bit more conservative and issued them in conjunction with the more powerful rifles. The Indianheads also received a limited supply of experimental fully automatic M1 carbines. The feedback was mixed as some reports indicated they were inaccurate and didn't have enough firepower. Clever field modifications included extending the magazine from 15 rounds to 30 and installing a compensator to help curb the gun's tendency to pull up when firing, improving its accuracy.

US Cobra AH-1 Attack Helicopter Platoon

This Team Yankee Box includes includes two plastic AH-1 Cobra helicopters, two plastic flight stands, decal sheet and unit card. The AH-1S Cobra is the latest version of the Vietnam-era Hueycobra and is easily distinguishable by its flatter, non-reflective canopy and the four Improved TOW missiles tubes mounted on each side. This Cobra is a tank hunter, relying on its narrow frontal profile, the long reach of the Improved TOW missile, and skilful flying to remain undetected as it hunts its prey. The Panhard VCR was a light armored personnel carrier. Iraq ordered turrets in September 1974 capable of launching antitank guided missiles, and this resulted in the development of the Panhard VCR/TH,100 of which were delivered to Iraq between 1979 and 1981.

The VCR/TH HOT was fitted with an anti-tank missile turret for launching the HOT wire guided anti-tank missile. The VCR/TH mounted four HOT missiles on the turret ready to fire. Ten further missiles were held inside the vehicle.

Wespe Artillery Battery

Wespe Artillery Battery includes three resin and metal Wespe Self-propelled Guns and one Unit card.

The Wespe (Wasp) self-propelled howitzer first saw action at Kursk in 1943. Based on the reliable Panzer II chassis, the vehicle proved well suited for supporting armoured units. Its weapon was the standard 10.5cm leFH18 howitzer, which provided excellent artillery firepower to the panzer divisions they supported.

The initial Wespe units had their first major engagement at Kursk and performed well in the initial phases suppressing the defending Russian troops as the Panzers rolled forward.
