Basij Infantry Platoon (TIR703) includes one Command Team, nine AKM assault rifle teams, four RPG-7 anti-tank teams, nine medium four-hole bases, one small three-hole base and four small two-hole bases.

The Basij were often lightly armed with a mix of weapons drawn from whatever stocks were available. The lucky units were armed with AKM assault rifles either purchased from foriegn sources or captured from the Iraqis. Some units were supplied by the Army with G3 battle rifles. Many had old bolt-action rifles from the 1940s and 50s. Particularly well-armed units had PKM machine-guns mixed in their assualt rifles. Soviet RPG-7 anti-tank weapons provided heavy firepower against tanks, dug-in infantry, and bunkers.
