    EASTERN FRONT, 1942

After Operation Barbarossa failed to defeat the Soviet Union in 1941, the war on the Eastern Front must continue. This time, the Germans prioritised their efforts in the south, towards the oil fields of the Caucasus region in Fall Blau (Case Blue). German and Axis armies will advance east, into the Caucusus’, along the Don river and across it to the Volga. Their sweeping summer advances will bring them to the city of Stalingrad. The infamous Battle of Stalingrad will become a turning point in WWII, a savage house-to-house battle through the ruins of the city to halt the Germans and draw-in ever more forces, until a Russian counter-offensive can be launched to encircle the entire German 6th Army.

    HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
A complete overview of war in southern Russia in 1942, starting with preliminary operations in the spring, the the start of Fall Blau, the Battle of Voronezh, Operations on the Don, Operation Edelweiss’ drive into the Caucasus region, the Battle of the Don Bend and the panzers’ drive to the Volga and Stalingrad. Inside Stalingrad, the ‘Death on Volga’ section deals specifically with the weeks of brutal close-quarters fighting through the city’s streets and its three factory complexes.

    ARMY LISTS
Nine army lists are included for the Germans, their Axis allies and the Red Army. These are: German Panzer and Infantry Division battlegroups, Italian and Rumanian battlegroups and the Hungarian 1st Armoured Division battlegroup. For the Russians, army lists for Rifle Divisions and battlegroups created from their new Tank Corps. ‘Death on Volga’ pits specially equipped German assault Stossgruppe infantry battlegroups against the ragged but dug-in and determined ‘Defenders of Stalingrad’.

  • Legions Imperialis: Rhino Transport Detachment

The Rhino is the most widely used armoured personnel carrier in the Imperium. Based upon ancient STC technology, the fundamental design is robust, reliable, and easy to maintain, with an adaptive power plant that can run off a wide variety of fuels. Within the Space Marine Legions, the Deimos pattern was the most widespread, serving as the basic armoured transport available to the Legiones Astartes and the foundation on which a number of other war machines were based.

This multipart plastic kit builds 10 epic scale Legiones Astartes Rhinos, rugged transports that carry Space Marine infantry across the battlefields of Legions Imperialis. Each comes with pintle-mounted twin-linked bolters as standard, and the kit includes two pintle-mounted havoc launchers and four multi-meltas to provide greater fire support. You’ll also find cosmetic build options to help customise your vehicles, including dozer blades, hunter-killer missiles, and split or paired twin-linked bolters.

    The set includes:

    - 10x Rhinos
    - 16x pintle-mounted twin-linked bolters (10 split, six paired)
    - 4x pintle-mounted multi-meltas
    - 2x pintle-mounted havoc launchers
    - 1x Legiones Astartes Legion Vehicle Transfer Sheet

This kit comprises 128 plastic components and a transfer sheet. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints.

  • Legions Imperialis: Legions Astartes Thunderhawk Gunship

The Thunderhawk Gunship fulfils a number of roles within the Legiones Astartes, but primarily acts as a drop ship, soaring through both atmosphere and void space to deliver its deadly cargo of Space Marines. It is also a formidable weapons platform in its own right, however, equipped to scour landing zones and engage enemy aircraft.

This multipart plastic kit builds an epic scale Thunderhawk Gunship. This airborne behemoth's primary weapon is a dorsal turbo-laser destructor, while its fuselage and wings each support a pair of heavy bolter turrets for lighter targets. It also boasts a pair of lascannons mounted on secondary 'attack wings', which offer glueless assembly to adjust their positioning mid-game. The Thunderhawk comes with six hellstrike missiles to mount under its main wings, and can be built with its landing gears extended for touchdown, or retracted within its hull.

This model can also be used in games of Aeronautica Imperialis by mounting it on an appropriate Aeronautica Imperialis base, sold separately.

    The set includes:

    - 1x Thunderhawk Gunship
    - 1x Legions Imperialis 40mm Round Flying Base with ball socket stem
    - 1x Legions Imperialis Space Marine Squadron transfer sheet

This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints.

Please note that the base designs shown in the imagery may differ to those supplied in this product.
