  • Combat Patrol: Thousand Sons

The Daemon Prince Zadophon is a potent sorcerer and a monstrous warrior, terrifying to behold. His presence bends the weave of fate into forms more fortuitous for Tzeentch’s designs, and his empyric rituals are made all the more potent should he consume a sliver of soulstuff from a fallen underling. He is accompanied by Kaa'skrek, a Tzaangor Shaman who unleashes ferocious psychic bombardments against the foe as they soar high upon their daemonic Disc. Three Tzaangor Enlightened protect their leader, while a unit of Rubric Marines march forward to claim territory by laying down a punishing hail of Inferno bolts and sorcerous warpfire.

This box contains 15 plastic miniatures that represent a complete Prism of Zadophon force for use in Combat Patrol games of Warhammer 40,000. It's an ideal way to start a Thousand Sons army, or easily add to an existing collection, and save money compared to buying the contents separately.

The Daemon Prince can be built in a wide variety of ways to suit your Chaos God and preferred style. It can be armed with an infernal cannon and a hellforged sword or daemonic axe, or with a pair of malefic talons.

The Tzaangor Enlightened can alternatively be built as Tzaangor Enlightened with Fatecaster Greatbows – prophetic mutant warrior archers.

The Rubric Marines can be armed with either inferno boltguns or warpflamers. One can be built with a deadly soulreaper cannon, and another can carry an icon of flame. The Aspiring Sorcerer who leads them can be armed with either an inferno bolt pistol or a warpflame pistol.

This set includes the following multipart plastic miniatures:
    – 1x Daemon Prince
    – 1x Tzaangor Shaman
    – 3x Tzaangor Enlightened (which can alternatively be built as Tzaangor Enlightened with Fatecaster Greatbows)
    – 10x Rubric Marines

This kit comprises 358 plastic components, 1x Citadel 60mm Round Bases, 4x Citadel 40mm Round Base, 10x Citadel 32mm Round Bases, and 1x Chaos Space Marines transfer sheet containing 364 high-quality waterslide transfers to decorate your miniatures.

  • Thousand Sons: Warpflame Thrallband

The Sorcerers of the Thousand Sons command their troops with the skill of a puppet master, moving them across the battlefield like so many pieces on a board only they can see. Rubricae, both clad in ornate power armour and heavy Terminator battle plate, march in lockstep alongside towering Sekhetar robots, infernal constructs wreathed in potent spells.

This stuffed box contains a Thousand Sons force for use in games of Warhammer 40,000. Led by three Exalted Sorcerers and supported by Sekhetar Robots and Scarab Occult Terminators, they perform well in the hands of a savvy general. A unit of Rubric Marines round out the ensemble, offering objective-grabbing potential and adding to the firepower of the force with heavy and special weapons.

The Sekhetar Robots are armed with heavy warpflamers, hellfyre missile racks, and pyreflux meltaguns. The pyreflux meltagun can alternatively be traded out for a warpflame projector and a cruel power claw.

The Rubric Marines can be armed with either inferno boltguns or warpflamers. One can be built with a deadly soulreaper cannon, and another can carry an icon of flame. The Aspiring Sorcerer who leads them can be armed with either an inferno bolt pistol or a warpflame pistol to match the rest of the unit.

The Scarab Occult Terminators are each armed with an inferno combi-bolter and a Prosperine khopesh. One miniature can be given a heavy warpflamer, soulreaper cannon, or hellfyre missile rack. The staff-wielding Scarab Occult Sorcerer can be armed with either an inferno combi-bolter or a Prosperine khopesh.

No matter how you choose to build them, this box makes for a fantastic way to start a new Thousand Sons army, or expand your collection with a flexible set of fantastic miniatures – and save money over buying each kit separately. • Warhammer Underworlds: Knives Of The Crone

The Knives of the Crone are fanatical believers in the creed of the prophetic goddess Morai-Heg, and they exist to serve fate’s will. They are led by the seer Kaerna Vix, who reads the viscera of slain foes to glean her deity’s desires. A cadre of killers ensure Vix’s visions come to pass – Tazari is Kaerna’s strong right hand, while Krieta eagerly butchers those who draw her master’s gaze. Finally, Azphel stands ready to put a crossbow bolt through distant foes.

This multipart plastic kit builds the Knives of the Crone – a complete warband for use in games of Warhammer Underworlds. It comes with fighter cards and warscroll cards for the warband.

The Knives of the Crone are a Mastery-style warband that would synergise well with one of the Mastery Rivals decks, which are available separately.

  • Warhammer Underworlds Rivals Deck: Realmstone Raiders

For most souls, there is only one reason to travel to Embergard – to collect emberstone. Within each bright, burning coal of Aqshian realmstone flickers power that anyone would long to possess. Everything is secondary to collecting more of it. Even killing an enemy might be forgotten in favour of seizing the arcane fragments they bear.

Realmstone Raiders is a complete and ready-to-play Rivals deck, usable by any warband in your games of Warhammer Underworlds. Just open the pack, shuffle the cards, and you're good to go! The deck is classed under the Mastery playstyle, which encourages you to attack your foes to harness the power of Emberstone Ploys and Upgrades, and would work well with a Mastery-style warband. Use these cards on their own, or mix and match them with another set to create a custom Nemesis format deck.

This deck contains a 33-card universal Rivals deck, consisting of:

  • Combat Patrol: Emperor's Children

The notorious Callous Blades warband is led by Lord Kaphrael, a figure whose arrogance is matched only by his skill at arms. As he calls out his victims and cuts them down in duels, he inspires his cavorting cohort to greater acts of debauched butchery. The Infractors are led by an Obsessionist who can be armed with either a plasma pistol or bolt pistol, and a rapture lash or power sword, and feature lots of cosmetic options to make it easy to customise your squad. They can alternatively be built as bolter-armed Tormentors.

The Blissblades can be built with either a pair of blades or a single longer weapon, which is just as deadly. They come with 18 different heads, shoulder pad options, and interchangeable grenades.

  • World Eaters: Gorestorm Slaughterpack

The World Eaters have given themselves fully to Khorne. Some even allow Daemonic entities to possess them, granting them power far beyond their mortal limitations. Such is the case with the Slaughterbound – leaders of a sort who share their bodies with the spirit of a Bloodthirster, their mutated bodies twisted into little more than a living arsenal of blades, whirring teeth, and claws. In their wake follows a menagerie of frenzied warriors, ready to tear their foes limb from bloody limb.

This loaded box contains a World Eaters force for use in games of Warhammer 40,000. Led by a Slaughterbound, and supported by Eightbound and Exalted Eightbound, they are ideal for aggressive play. Two units of Jakhals round out the force, adding destructive potential in a more disposable form.

The Eightbound can alternatively be built as Exalted Eightbound, both with a variety of chainblades, and featuring a range of interchangeable and cosmetic options, making it easy to customise your possessed Chaos Space Marines.

One of the Jakhals in each unit is a hulking Dishonoured armed with skullsmasher mace, another can be given a two-handed mauler chainblade, and yet another with a skull-strung Jakhal icon. Each kit also builds a Jakhal Pack Leader, and there are interchangeable weapons, arms, and heads to personalise your savage killers.

  • Mounted Serjeants (1150-1320)

    MASTERS OF WAR

Mounted serjeants, the backbone of medieval cavalry, were skilled warriors who rode alongside their knights into battle. Unlike their noble counterparts, these men earned their place through loyalty and martial prowess rather than birthright. Heavily armed and clad in mail or padded armor, they formed a vital component of a lord’s retinue, providing support in cavalry charges and skirmishes. As professional soldiers, they trained rigorously, maintaining discipline and eectiveness on the battlefield.

Though they lacked the prestige of knights, their role was indispensable on the battlefields of the 12th and 13th centuries, proving that courage and cold steel not just noble blood could win the day.

This hard plastic box set allows you to build up to 12 mounted serjeants with a variety of weapons including sword, ax, mace, spear, and falchion with two sizes of shields. 15 unique heads provide for massive customization. Arms and heads are also compatible with WAAAC002 Foot Serjeants.

  • Mounted Knights (1150-1320)

    LORDS OF WAR

Masters of speed and shock, the mounted knights of 12th and 13th century Europe were the pinnacle of battlefield technology of their day. Clad in mail and wielding lances, swords, and maces, these warriors thundered across the field, breaking enemy lines with devastating cavalry charges. Their warhorses, bred for strength and endurance, were as much weapons as the knights themselves.

Unique heraldry and personal color schemes made for a vibrant scene as they brought their death charge home. And while the code of chivalry preached honor and virtue, it was often the strength of steel that determined fate.

This hard plastic box set features 12 barded horses and riders with weapons including lance, sword, ax, and mace and with arms that are fully compatible with WAAAC001 Foot Knights for even more variety! 21 unique heads allow for massive customization. • Wargames Illustrated Magazine Issue 449 May 2025

In a radical shift away from convention, this month’s cover artwork does not herald the theme of the magazine. Instead, the wonderful illustration of World War II G.I.s (by Marco Capparoni) connects to our articles on page 32 and 48, in which hobby YouTuber Peachy and our pigment pirate James try out The Army Painter’s new Warpaints Historical range; the artwork also features on the cover of the World War Two American Paints box set.

The theme of this magazine is around 2,000 years away from World War Two: The Celts! Their coverage spans three articles that dovetail with the Freebie Frame bagged with this magazine. The sprue of Epic Hail Caesar Celt Warriors is a new release from Warlord Games, and it is currently only available as part of the Celt Army box set. However, you now have your slice of the army – for free! – allowing you to add to your Celtic ranks or ‘try before you buy’.

Whether your preference is for painting World War II or playing Celts, I’m sure you will find plenty to interest and inspire you in this magazine, especially as they comprise just some of the many wargaming topics covered in this issue.

  • Soulblight Gravelords: Dice

The armies of the Soulblight Gravelords go to war under the gaze of their vampiric masters, marching with no fatigue and laying waste to their living enemies without hesitation.

This is a set of 16 round-cornered six-sided dice for use in games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, themed around the Soulblight Gravelords. They are cast in black acrylic plastic with red ink pips and designs, and measure 16mm along each edge. The 1-5 facings are traditionally pipped and each '6' face is decorated with the terrifying icon of the Soulblight Gravelords.
