  • Warlords of Erehwon Bandits and Brigands

Lowlier than even the retainers of the Samurai Warbands are the Bandits and Brigands - a ragtag assembly of warriors bearing whichever weapon is most handy. The inhabitants of Erehwon would do wisely to stay on the beaten track, lest they be set upon by bandits and brigands - making their less than honourable way in the world...

The Warlords of Erehwon Samurai Army List makes allowance to include Bandits and Brigands as a unit carrying assorted weapons. In a departure from the standard rules of Erehwon, these unit is permitted to bear 'mixed arms' - counting as staves in the game (rather than the usual format of WYSIWYG).

    Contains 10 metal infantry.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Halfling Archers

Though diminutive, halfling warbands are adept at ranged warfare. Archers are perhaps the most effective fighters in the force because Halflings are good shots and their arrows hit just as hard as those of larger and stronger peoples.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Halfling Goat Riders with Bows

The Halflings themselves are a lightly armed militia, short on height and equipment but pretty nifty when it comes to shooting, throwing rocks, and sneaking about in the undergrowth. Unfortunately, this lot have their hands full with sword and shield, so have to resort to getting up close and stabbing the knees of larger folk.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Halfling Goat Riders with Spears

The availability of mounts suitable for halflings somewhat dictates their method of mounted warfare. Enter the goat; notoriously ill-tempered brutes prepared to bite, kick or peck anyone who comes too close. Although not terribly fast, any unfortunate soul caught in their path is going to feel it! Supplemented of course by a halfling with a long pointy stick.

Rile up the goats, and sometimes the halflings simply end up going for a ride.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Halfling Heavy Pig Cavalry

It is an uncommonly brave or fool-hardy Halfling who is prepared to climb aboard anything larger than a tiny pony or donkey, but some individuals can be found: though ‘no good will come of it’ is the general attitude to such things. Those foolhardy enough to mount a pig, equip themselves in top-notch (for Halflings!) armour, whilst still finding time for second breakfast might find themselves arriving at the frontline a little later than anticipated. But once there, they are a hardy bunch, and happy as pigs in muck - so to speak...

  • Warlords of Erehwon Halfling Heroes

Halflings are led by a pillar of their society - the Chief Sheriff or head of what passes for a law-enforcement body amongst Halflings: the Sheriffs. A cynic might say these worthies are more adept at extorting protection money from traders and farmers than they are at dealing with miscreants. None-the-less they are the only representatives of authority that Halflings have, and it can’t be an easy job, can it? There are also clan chiefs, wealthiest of the clan. There is also trickery afoot. A Fortune Teller is a wizardly-type. Halfling Fortune Tellers may be a deft hand when it comes to manipulating cards and heaven-knows whether they are complete charlatans or genuine workers of magic - it is best not to ask.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Halfling Militia

The Halflings are a lightly armed militia, short on height and equipment but pretty nifty when it comes to shooting, throwing rocks, and sneaking about in the undergrowth. The Sheriffs are the best equipped of the bunch, but that is not saying much. Even Halfling urchins, are remarkably adept at chucking rocks and can be armed with slings - catapults most likely - which makes them even more annoying.

A cynic might say these worthies are more adept at extorting protection money from traders and farmers than they are at dealing with miscreants. Some Halfling heroes are so wealthy they even ride into battle mounted, though not all are so well-off that they can afford a donkey! Thus, these heroes ride into battle on the ever gallant goat.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Halfling Rocket Launcher

Halflings love a good party, so there’s always a few spare fireworks lying around. In warfare, by bolstering them with additional gunpowder, they can sow destruction and confusion amongst the enemy ranks, though the next banquet might lack a little spectacle.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Halfling Stew Slinger

Not only a tasty dinner, but a Halfling’s stew can also be boiled to extreme temperatures and flung at an enemy. The ingredients of the broth vary by the specific chef, but it’s certainly an effective alternative to hot oil, particularly if the vegetables are especially chunky. Woe betide the foul creature who forces a halfling to give up his lunch!

  • Warlords of Erehwon Halfling Treemen

Halflings are prone to enticing Treemen to fight for the Moot, with promises that should the enemy succeed, they’ll certainly come along with fire and axes to destroy everything that’s green. Whether this is strictly true or not, it certainly sends the tree-folk up into a royal frenzy. Though lumbering, they make for an exceptionally powerful hammer against the enemy, and also provide a handy distraction so that the Halflings themselves might avoid being targets.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Ninjas

Striking from the shadows before fading away into blackness, these legendary figures has become a staple of popular culture from the early 19th century onwards. Our portrayal of these cold-blooded killers is a little tongue-in-cheek, with their black pyjamas and brandished blades!

Masters of unconventional warfare, the ninja rose to prominence during the Sengoku period. Their daimyo masters tasked them with assassination, sabotage and psychological warfare - dishonourable acts that the average samurai would refuse on principle.

History tells us of some truly incredible deeds - including an assassin who hid in Uesugi Kenshin's toilet, intending to stab him somewhere unmentionable and another who thrust a spear through the floorboards in an attempt to kill Toyotomi Hideyoshi, but was smoked out by another ninja armed with a primitive flamethrower!

  • Warlords of Erehwon Ogre Firestarter

This set contains an Ogre Firebreather. A magic user able to summon flames from nothing, he is able to use the best kind of magic: destructive! Fitting Ogres down to the bone (which they've probably eaten), this primal force is channelled through their innate hunger, manifesting as burning flame.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Onna-bugeisha with longbows

From the earliest days of Japanese rule, women were trained in the art of battle, becoming proficient with knives and pole weapons. When communities were short of male fighters, the women would step up to bolster the ranks, using their naginata and tanto to great effect!

Some Onna-bugeisha became legendary figures during the various wars that punctuate Japan's storied history. One, the Empress Jingu, allegedly conquered the whole of the Korean peninsula without spilling a single drop of blood. Another, Onamihime, became the de facto head of the Nikaido clan and led their armies into battle during the Sengoku period.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Rulebook

    Warlords of Erehwon Rulebook

Warlords of Erehwon is a fantasy based game designed for 28mm tabletop warfare. The gameplay is built around the D10 system developed for the science-fiction game Beyond the Gates of Antares and also using the praised order dice mechanic first used in the Bolt Action WW2 rules.

    How it plays

The Warlords of Erehwon game rules allow us to fight battles between fantasy warriors, mighty sorcerers and ghastly monsters. A force is imagined to number anywhere from twenty or thirty models to about fifty or sixty. This is not a ‘mass battle’ game requiring hundreds of models and a vast tabletop, nor is it a skirmish game for just a handful of models on each side. The scope of our game lies somewhat between – and we call these forces warbands.

    List of Warbands

Warlord of Erehwon is designed with many races in mind, here they are:

    Barbarians
    Beastman
    Dwarf
    Elven
    Gnoll War Party
    Goblin
    Halfing
    Knightly Retinue
    Olympian
    Orc
    Undead
    Monsters

  • Warlords of Erehwon Samurai Heroes

This fantastic set provides you with a great selection of heroes for your warband, from the noble Daimyo to the sneaky Ninja Master! These models are bursting with character, and give you plenty of options to choose from when building your army. Each one of these models is covered with little touches, from scabbarded throwing knives on the ninja master to the adornments in the Geisha's hair.

One player asked whether it was permitted to field a force of seven heroes in the style of the Seven Samurai. Such masterless Samurai were known as Ronin and we thought it was worth presenting players with the option. This isn’t really necessary because as with all our Erehwon warbands, players are always at liberty to choose to ignore, modify, or create whatever forces they want so long as all involved are happy to go along with that approach.

As with the inclusion of monsters from the Monster list and other variations of warbands, we therefore say that this option is available if your opponent agrees - and leave it to you to make arrangements for yourselves.

If you want to play the Ronin variant simply choose seven Shugyosha and nominate one as your Warlord. The Warlord receives no extra rules or abilities, but every Warband needs a Warlord and so our seven heroes must choose one amongst them who is their leader. You can use any points remaining to buy non-Samurai units including monsters from the list if you wish. Bandits, Ashigaru or Archers might equally well be armed villagers or peasantry - we shall not enquire too closely. You can also include an Onmyoji - who in this case might be a village wise-woman or local priest - let the story of your Seven Samurai suggest a cast to match.

In this set, you'll get nine fantastic metal miniatures (some of which you may have seen before), which are perfect for either Warlords of Erehwon or Pike & Shotte.

    Heroes on the Battlefield

Using the figures in this pack, you can add a Daimyo, Onmyoji Diviner, Shugyosha Samurai Hero or a Ninja Master to your warband - using extra figures to represent Hatamoto bodyguards or unit leaders.
Choosing a hero to lead your army is an important consideration - do you need a bow-wielding samurai to snipe enemy characters or monsters, or a heavily armoured daimyo to lead the charge and hack into the enemy battle line.

Specialists like the Diviner or Ninja Master have a wide array of special abilities that can give you an edge over your opponent!

  • Warlords of Erehwon Sohei Warrior Monks with naginata

These holy warriors are known as Sohei (monk soldiers), representing the militant arm of Buddhism on the islands of Japan between the 10th and 17th centuries. Like the crusading orders of European knights, these brotherhoods of battle-hardened warriors fought as cohesive units on the battlefield.

Dressed in traditional monk robes, brandishing razor-sharp naginata, the Sohei were often used as shock troops, augmenting the serried ranks of Samurai and Ashigaru that formed the bulk of a Daimyo's army. While they are most known for their iconic naginata, the Sohei are pictured with swords, daggers, bows, and clubs - opening up plenty of conversion and modeling opportunities.
In this set, you'll get ten fantastic metal miniatures (some of which you may have seen before), which are perfect for either Warlords of Erehwon or Pike & Shotte.

  • Warlords of Erehwon Tengu

Tengu are terrifying creatures that combine human and avian qualities to various degrees, appearing as dark and threatening birds or as winged and sometimes beaked men - though their beaks often take the form of extremely long noses. They are reckoned to be a kind of daemon, yokai or even as a holy spirit or Kami, but either way they are monstrous creatures.

Originally seen as harbingers of war and troublesome spirits in the extreme, their reputation has softened over the ages. Yet they remain the powerful and dangerous protectors of the mountains and forests, inhabiting remote and desolate regions far from civilisation.

In the Warlords of Erehwon game Tengu provide a potent flying unit gifted with high speed and multiple attacks, a formidable asset to any Samurai warband.
