Mladshi Leytenant Vasily Grigorevich Zaytsev was a Soviet sniper particularly notable for his actions during the Battle of Stalingrad, where he killed two hundred and twenty-five soldiers and officers of the Wehrmacht and other Axis armies, including eleven enemy snipers. Under Zaytsev's expert instruction, a school of snipers was set up behind the front lines, producing many sniper aces throughout the war.
