The first part of the trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, has inspired this chess set, which is superbly hand painted. The pieces are based upon the principal characters as follows:

- King - Saruman the White.
- Queen - Ringwraith.
- Bishop - Lurtz.
- Knight - Orc overseer.
- Castle - Moria Orc.
- Pawn - Orc.
Light chess pieces
- King - Gandalf the Grey.
- Queen - Galdriel.
- Bishop - Aragorn.
- Knight - Gimli.
- Castle - Frodo.
- Pawn - Samwise the hobbit.

The King is 110mm high and the whole set is cast in durable polystone. The additional images above are shown unpainted, but this chess set is hand painted as shown in the main image.
