An important if somewhat overlooked arm of the Afrikakorps was its artillery. The Afrikakorps was armed with a variety of excellent artillery pieces and controlling the fire of these mighty batteries were teams of dedicated, skilled, professional artillery officers and men. They plotted the fire, worked out fire plans and surveyed the battery sites.
