The apperance of the United States lend-lease M3 Medium Tank (known as the Grant I in the British army) equalised the tank battles on the desert battlefields between the Desert Rats and the Afrikakorps. The 37mm turret gun and hull-mounted 75mm gave it excellent firepower and the Germans soon learned to fear its high silhouette.
