The glider pilots were attached from the Glider Pilot Regiment and after they landed their gliders they were expected to lend aid wherever they could to protect the landing zones. As the battle progressed they would then be placed in divisional reserve and sent to help defend the line where needed. They were well equipped to counter-attack the enemyand gain back whatever ground might have been lost.
